trans info

I think you are wrong on all counts.

The BA10/5 is the Peugeot 5-speed. It was used only with the 4.0L.

Aisin-Warner (not Wagner) makes the AW-4 automatic transmission used behind the 4.0L engine in the XJ.

Assuming you have a 5-speed 2.8L, the tranny could be a T-5 but is more likely an AX-5, which was made by Aisin-Seiki (not Aisin-Warner).

Did you get a AX-5 onto the 2.8L?

From a forum search, it appears the AX-5 will bolt to a 60 degree V6, but I want to confirm this.

I am considering an engine swap, 2.5L to a 3.4L, and have the AX-5 tranny.

i have not done this but from what I was told the 2.5L and the 2.8L share the same 60 deg V-6 bolt patern. So yes it should bolt up.

Since you didn't give any info in your post I went to the bother of looking at your profile. I'm guessing you are looking to find info for an 86? If the question is what came from the factory then for an 86 it will be an AX5. You got the idea about the ba10/5 from Off-Road.com's Jeep Tech: Transmission page I bet.... it's wrong. If you woulda used the search you would have found my thread on this from a while back....
