I use trammel points. I've got many sets for different applications. I do custom remodeling and some building. Lots of folks want curves and arches in/on their homes now. I have built cabinets and still do occasionally, but I like to work outside at least part of the time.

I like metal parts on my trammels. Yours look interesting though. They look perfect for someone who wants a set but doesn't want to spend the big bucks for a set. I have an OLD pair that are made kind of like yours, the throat is slightly dove tailed. It holds really well.

Chief,

Not to burst your bubble, but I don't see what is so unique about your design?
I do woodworking as a hobby (probably more than Jeeps but I won't go there) and there are several companies that sell items like this. Lee Valley which sells a lot of high end hand tools has several varieties:

There are also these:

Selling on E-bay is considerably different than competing with Lee Valley or Rockler. If they're selling on E-bay, keep making them.

no harm,

I have two of the sets you've shown, and they work great. the only thing is, it's kind of a pain digging through my box trying to find the right leads sometimes. A standard pencil is a lot easier to get a hold of. At least one you showed uses metal scribes on both ends, but offers fine tuning. Mine are basically designed to be practical and cheap. For those who work with wood and veneers for a living greatly appreciate the fact that the hdpe will notch scratch or mar the work surface. We all know its a no-o, but we still leve tools on work pieces when we shouldn't.

exactly, only a few here and there, but every little bit helps. And it's nice to get good feedbacks. People seem to really like them, that's all that matters. It's kind of cool knowing there are strangers around the country using a tool that I made.

I'm thinking i should take previously mentioned advice, make as many as possible and get 'em out. What's an effective and inexspensive way to advertise on the internet? Just looking at options right now. thanks for your input.

edit: a board member will have some soon, so we'll get some reliable input.

It is a good idea and can be made for little cost. And if people buy them on Ebay then by all means make them and sell them. I guess I was indirectly commenting on your comment about wanting to patent your trammel. I just didn't see what was unique about it that would be patentable.

agreed at this point, it was more like i'd like to continue making them, w/o worry of being shut down. Now I'm working on router sub bases that are color matched to the brand! they look sweet!

I appreciate everyone's thoughts too.
