Hello I am new to NAXJA and I knew this would be the perfect place to ask this question. I am 16 and recently purchased a 93 XJ Sport with a 3 in Rancho lift. I purchased it mostly to go off roading with it. I am looking for a good trail in Northern Colorado that my XJ will be able to tackle that has some good obsticales. The only one that I can think of at the moment is Bill Moore Lake. I know that I can make it up there with my XJ because I have taken my fathers 01 Chevy Blazer zr2 on that trail and had no difficulties what so ever. I am looking for a trail that my rig can handle but will also give me a run for my money. Any suggestions will be greatly apprecaited. Thank you very much.

You might want to pick up a couple of books by Charles Wells that cover Colorado. Also check here: http://www.4x4trails.net/db_search.php?been_here=1 I also recomend picking up a Delorme Colorado Gazeteer.
Check here, ColoradoXJ group or Colorado4x4.org for trail runs.

You didn't mention tire size or whether the differential was locked or not, so I will assume open on 235's.

Bill Moore Lake, Red Elephant hill, Yankee Boy Hill and the back trails from there would be "easy". Jenny Creek is a good trail with some challenges and some nice scenery. Spring Creek will be a "bit" more difficult, and there is a bypass for the first obstical and kind of a bypass for the rock garden. West of there is Wheeler Lake.

Colorado is chalk full of trails an XJ with 3" of lift can do! Have fun!

Guess it depends on how far north ya are... Some more trails:

*Moody
*Crystal
*7 Mile
*Kelly Flats
*Greenridge [mud]

I'd run Moody/Crystal and go from there... Not too tough, and will hone your driving skills...

Will.
