Track Bar Woes.....RC

Who? Andy? He built mine with double sheer. No way in hell I'd use a tie rod on a trackbar. They just don't last long. Andy offers t-bars with tie rods as a cheaper alternative if you wish to use it.

The one on the website shows it uses the factory TRE.

I have both RC Trac bars. the Double shear has a Beefy mount, but the bar is smaller. it's been holding up great. I couldnt complain, bar&mount for $110 is a great deal, but i would not use this bar with huge tires. i do agree, i think it would bend easily with heavy abuse.

The RC Trac bar with a TRE Is also a decent deal, but the TRE they put on it is junk, I upgraded to a MOOG TRE and threw it on my ZJ. It's holding up great!

+1 for RC.. I also really like IRO's setup. Great bang for the buck there too!

What bothers me about the RC bar is not the bar itself, but the threaded rod. It's just like Rusty's, which is well known to snap at that spot. My gf's brother ran a BDS trackbar, the original one with johnny joint and the threaded rod was the same thickness as the RC t-bar and Rusty's. He snapped it at the BDS outback adventure. Upon researching it, it seemed like a common issue with that t-bar as well. Now BDS offers it with 1" threaded rod and it's much stronger. (they replaced it under warranty).

Double shear kit converts factory bracket to double shear mount at track bar for great value.

If you look closely, it's actually a double sheer bar. I didn't catch it either until a little while later LOL.

He offers a bracket that bolts onto the stock bracket and converts it to double sheer. Or you can email him and tell him just to make a double sheer t-bar and you can buy the full bracket from Iron Rock or other manufacture. I gave Andy the specs (width and bushing size) of my RC bar and he made a double sheer bar using 1.25 solid steel and it fit like a glove. The RC bar slides right in with no effort so it's "loose fitting". Andy's bar took some muscle and it was a very tight fit, which is what you want for a t-bar. Don't get me wrong, the RC bar will work but I just don't trust it based on the carnage i've seen with t-bars using what RC uses.

Well.....I replaced the tie rod end on the RC track bar. Went wheeling yesterday and nearly folded it in half. It didn't snap but my axle was shift over about 2" afterwards.

I need the IRO track bar ASAP.
