Totalled.....

to be honest, i dont think that the cops not showing up was due to your buddy in the ins. industry. most of the time (i could be putting my foot in my mouth here) if a collision (note i didnt say accident) occurs on public property the police cant do anything (at least thats been my experience when backing into people at gas stations and such). im not advocating breaking the law but ill be damned if i come to a complete stop at a shopping center intersection if nobody is coming.

No...no, I wasn't bragging about having "connections". My point was, working with an agency makes life much more simple. And when he's a friend, even better.

BTW, what I have been told is, that if the repair appears to be in excess of $500 that the police should be contacted. And as we know....$500 dollars is not difficult to exceed. It was clearly my fault, the other car was parked. No argument, no cops needed.

Hey hunter its private property, ie business lots and stuff, not public, the public stuff the police will respond to. The department that I dispatch for will not send an officer to an accident on private property unless there is an injury involved or it was a hit skip. So you run into someone in a parking lot and you wont get a report unless someone is hurt.

btw, i got 5100 for my 95 two years ago with just under 100k. the ins company said i would've got more w/o a lift, since THEY say XJs aren't made to be lifted...i took the money and ran, got the jeep paid for!

they gave me more money for mine cuz it was lifted (AAA), they said that all the upgrades that were visable, lift, wheels, roof rack, snorkel etc, all added value to my XJ and that's why I ended up with my $5000 for mine.

That's awesome that they gave you money for all that. How long ago was this, did it have very many dents and such? Mine looked pretty bad and the insurance was quite pissed that they didnt know the Jeep was modified...of course that was when I was still on my parents insurance and their agent called me after the rollover to yell at me and tell me i needed to find new insurance, needless to say I was already looking and found a great agent that knows the jeep is modified and takes care of insuring all my junk....all through state farm too!!

it had every body panel dented including the roof and the windshield was broke, needless to say it's still dented everywhere and the windshield is still broke. This all happened last fall.
