Yep that be my old home town I live about 20 min east now but my mom was home at the time.
Folks are safe at my house. My old man was working in Ft. Collins and my mom was home during the whole thing. I was on the phone talking to her about the new/old/new again coach for the aves then she said O the news is flashing weather warnings and tornado then bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…………… phone went dead. I had weather bug and 9News on the pc and from my office window off I-25 I knew things were good. We then lost power out here at the shop shortly after that. My girlfriend is a teacher in Milliken and was calling me from the Johnstown McDonalds that had just lost power, and she was freaking out because of the rain and hail the size of golf balls. After the first pass they made it back to the school and found carnage with trees and car glass all over the place some homes with window damage. I kept trying to call my moms home # and nothing got a hold of my dad and he heard the same thing, so he was packing his stuff back up into his work truck and heading home. Took him over an hour to get to the house. He was only about 25 min away under normal conditions. My mom was freaked out really bad. The neighbor guys were home and came over and got her out of the basement and outside and helped her calm down a bit tell my dad could get there. I took off to the school to check on Jess and then to the house for supplies then tried to head over to Windsor, and my dad called saying it was closed down and heard from work crews in the area that we have working there saying don’t even try it if I heard they were ok to just stay out of the area. I kept in touch with my dad for a few hours tell they could make it to my house. They lost all the trees in the front the back yard big tree is 50/50 at this point windows busted out surface damage from the stuff flying around. The skylight is busted. It exploded the back window on the car and the trees that came out did some damage. They were 5 blocks from the main part that you’re looking at on the news. Just to the west of the daycare and south of the homes that are totally trashed. They didn’t even fully understand the amount of damage tell they got to my house and saw the news with the shots from the air. I have some friends that still live in that part and finally got a hold of most of them last night and all are safe with no injuries. Just seeing the houses that I know the people whom live there and how trashed they are it’s a stab to the chest really I was just winded watching the news all last night. Didn’t get much sleep. My mom passed out finally after I grilled up some dinner and took her to dairy queen, but she was turning all night long. Not being in her house her bed and being in the basement she said the whole house was shaking.
I just heard from them and they still aren’t letting people into that area and there is a town meeting at the community center right now about what kind of time frames they will be looking at. They still have a lot of police and National Guard in the area watching over everything at this point. They took a few pics but I couldn’t get them to download last night off their camera. As soon as I’m allowed into the area to help with clean up I’ll get some pics.
Keep the people and town of Windsor your thoughts it’s unbelievable that only one person is confirmed dead at this point over this whole mess.
