Tomorrow is the day

build a tcase drop with some 1" square tubing and some longer bolts. the faster you go, the more it'll vibe. mine gets pretty vibey around 80 or so, with no sye. i'm running 4.5, so with 3.5, you'll be golden without the sye. i might go as far as to say the sye would be a waste with a lift that small, but every rig is different. you should also search "hack and tap" it's a proven cheap way to do an sye for less than $100

More like less than $200 on the Hack n Tap. RE Flange runs just under $100, Spicer Adapter runs about $60, then figure $12 for a front drive shaft from Pull a Part...so looking at $160-$180 approx. Either way, it's pretty durable and easy to do. Mine's held up great for a couple of years now!

When I put the RE 3.5 lift on my 2000 the u-joints were binding so bad that I could barely get out of the driveway with it. So it's not necessarily a "waste" with a "small" lift. It may turn out to be a necessity since that lift will could net more like 5 inches when it's done. (mine was) I went the hack and tap route with an RE driveshaft, but still had to try several different shim packs on the leafs to get the angles right and get vibes under control. As stated before: All rigs are different! Good luck.

So things haven't really been working in my favor (getting out of work late, etc.) Finally got everything together today and dropped the jeep on the tires. I've still got to center the track bar, bleed the brakes, and do the tc drop. Does anybody have any idea what hardware I will need for the TC drop as far as what size bolts/washers? I forgot to pull one out today at the shop. Ill put a picture up later of her on the ground lifted.

FINISHED!!!!! It's getting aligned as we speak. Didn't bother with the TC drop and the vibes didn't seem too bed so we'll see whether or not I do it, hopefully it wont be long before the sye goes in. I'll have pictures up in a bit for sure.

:viking:

Just a heads up, ended up using a c clamp, socket, and old bolt on the sway bar bracket bolts

Looks really good. Looks like a lot of lift for a 3.5" RE kit. What size/brand tires did you go with?

Thanks.

Went with treadwright guard dogs w/kedge grip in 31x10.5. Only got a few miles on them but I like them so far. The only vibes I've got so far are light on acceleration, not bad at all. My old tires were so horribly unbalanced though I'm really just enjoying having balanced tires.

Haha, my wife's bugging me to do it too. Once I get one more for the spare I'll probably do it. I've got a quick question while I'm on here, I'll probably post it over in the tech. forum too. Today on the way to the carwash I noticed a certain sound coming from the rear vehicle. Wasn't really a vibration that I could notice from it, and it seemed like it was only when I let off of the accelerator. It was somewhere in between a growl and a rubbing sound. It wasn't constant when I would let off the gas, just a quick burst here and there. I've only put about 30 miles on it since I lifted it and will probably be putting her back on the lift tomorrow just to make sure everything's still tight. I had to disconnect the rear exhaust hanger (the one right next the shackle), and I forgot to put it back on so we'll see if that fixes it. That's really the only thing I could think of it being.

RE kits sit higher than advertised. A 3.5" kit will net you approx 4" after it settles some. It's nice to get more lift than you paid for :D

You'll love that RE kit, I have zero complaints about mine! I get lots of compliments on how well it rides and flexes compared to other XJ's of the same size/set up.
