Posting this here cause I know a bunch of folks in the Sierra Chapter have little ones.

My son is just about old enough to hit the trail with me (18 Months). I was wondering what type of Car Seat some of you use when you take your little ones wheelin. I was wondering if there is anything specific I need to look for.

The one I use now doesn't have much head support.

Thanks,
Mark

As soon as Emily was ready to face forward, we got this one...

When she gets older, it will become her booster seat as well, this is the last car seat she'll need.....and at 180 bones, I'm glad. Its easy to use and clean, which is a bonus. The only problem is that it's a little big but we only have one child and she sits in the middle of the back seat of the Jeep and also the Volvo.

It definitly works well at stopping her head from rattling around.

We don't use anything special, just ones that have good support on the side to keep their head from floping around. Lets face it if its designed to keep your kids alive in a horrific accident a little bouncing around and a flop or so shouldn't be a problem. (not that I suggest keeping them in your jeep when you do tippy stuff.)

Ashley did the hammers at 3 months, Brooke did the panamints when she was what 4-5 months.

During a climb in the panamints that I jacked up Brooke was pretty much hanging in the harness, since she is still rear facing. She didn't seem to mind :)

The pic that Joe posted does not seem to have good head support on the side. Ours are more the type that you sit in rather than on.

Here is what we use for our 10 months old.

We never took her to a trail, though. Sitting for hours with your head fixed is not a very pleasant experience, I would imagine.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am sure the unit I have will work just fine. He loves car rides and I am sure he will dig a fun trail or two.
