Man, this is getting annoying. I'm tired of these wackos trying to mess with threads on this public forum. I know this is unpopular and politically incorrect but here is my plan:

#1 when there is a flame war on a public forum, it will be put out... (This can be one exercising their the right to voluntarily shut up, but we reserve the right to shut you up...)

#2 If it involves Member's business, It can be dealt with on the Members' forum. (This known as the right to deal with valid issues in the proper venue...)

#3 Seek more appropriate venues for devolved off-topic bickering. Y'all have email addresses and PM mailboxes? Use them and spare us all the drama.

Well sorry if you didn't necessarily agree with where it went but there were those who actually were having a legitimate discussion, sorry to be a non-member in the public forums and unable to get to the member forums...Amidst the "flaming" was actual discussion between a few users about the differences between the US and Canada, and even that was dying down, if you look at casm's last post "until you come up with a valid argument I am done with this topic" and GQ's post "I am moving on to other more important things, like working on my XJ". Deleting the whole thread because you didn't like where it went to is weak...

I can't read every thread, but when one becomes brought to my attention for being out of turn, moderators step in and take action. In his case it was I, and I am so sorry you don't like it.

If you care enough to change things...become eligible and vote in November

Wasn't saying to read every thread, but you know, if you just looked at the 2 most recent posts you would've seen that the bickering was pretty much done. Or even just delete the posts that offended you or whoever reported it. Then the discussion and topic is saved. Now with the whole thing dead, you can't even look back and comment on the original topic which did have some good discussion going. I plan on becoming eligible, soon as I can, but probably not voting as all I know of you is this little bit and you're the only I know of, not exactly informed voting ya know However as I said in the new tires one, I don't have the cash at the moment.

Yep, you're right the thread is gone. But I'm saying that it just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to kill an entire thread because the last 10 or so posts (out of what was it 4 or 5 pages?) didn't flow as well. Come on, you can't deny that before the whole Canada vs US thing hit it, there was good discussion going on. I'm not makin any excuses, whining what have you. I'm also not hiding behind my status as president to delete entire threads that were serving a purpose because I'm annoyed at the last few posts. If you didn't like them, don't read. And at that, I'll take my own advice and leave this topic alone. For now.

Welcome to the discussion friend! So what paying $30 makes you better than me? Where do you think most memebrs of come from? They're people (like me) who come on the forums as non-members (like me) hang out for a while (like me) reading up, learning and getting a greater appreciation for the resources available here (like me) and eventually join (as I plan). Up until that last post, you know the one you quoted from, I had focused on the validity of the thread and why the whole thing had to be deleted. Your faithful president there has from the get-go been acting like non-members don't matter when everyone was a non-member at some point. He fired one off at me with the post directly above that one. So, I responded. Way I see it, you're an ass...so thatnks for your valuable input and please do come again

You just don't get it, do you? As President, I didn't delete anything because I was annoyed. I was (barely) amused. I deleted it because it went WAY beyond anything the scope of on our public forums. Explain to us in two simple sentences what StarWars/SDI, slavery 140+ years ago, and state-run medicine have to do with an XJ/MJ enthusiast's club website? You wanna discuss all that stuff in depth or mano a mano... find or create another venue. How hard is that?

And aren't we supposed to be watching our language in the forums since is somewhat family oriented and who kows who could be on here? If you look over my posts, not just this thread but many, you'll see a trend. I'm generally not involved in "butting heads with members" or "firing off at the mouth". I come on here, get info I need, talk to others, give advice if needed to others and generally function pretty peacefully. You, unfortunately, are seeing the other side. I don't get pissed easily, or often, but I'm not gonna let someone say whatever they want to me either.
Woody: maybe I should've reread my first post and edited it so as not to attack. But hey, that's done, and I can't take full responsibility here. We got one other who's comin in the middle just to get in my face. And you didn't mince any words either. Like I said, this is the only dealing with you I've had and I can't make any judgements based on that, I have nothing against you. You at least have been mostly civil. But I ask again, what is the purpose of the Off-Topic area except to talk about other things that interest us?

Hey Guys ... I feel very responsible here. I made several posts on that thread lately that took it a direction that was dangerously close to getting a flame war started. Events the past several weeks have prompted some caution on the part of all moderators I'm sure ... and I don't blame them.

This thread has very little importance. Keeping all the public forums constructive is. Lets not make a big deal out of this thread.

Don't worry bout that, I've met enough of the ones around here and had good convos with others here on the site that I'm not worried about one. And I do still plan on joining as soon as I have some extra spendable income. Right now I'm just recovering from the $650 hit my bank took replacing the bearings and getting the A/C and Aux fan working again...plus with a baby on the way. I may be able to join fairly soon though as I have a friend who pays me to pick up furniture for his wife's furniture store.
