i have a 94 xj with a 6.5 RC lift wh a set of 33's on 15x10 wheels with 3.75 backspacing, and the front tires are wearig really bad on the outer side the ball joints are fine is there any other thing that would cause this to be happening?

I had this and found to my surprise that I was toe out 1"!!! Adjusted to 1/4" toe IN and alls been perfect. Never thought to check it. Cheers

okay how do i know how much toe in i have? and how do i measure the toe in while im fixin it?
Find the center of the sidewall of the tire half way up in the front and also in the back. Measure from side to side in the front and then in the back and then compare measurements. If the front number is smaller than the rear then your tires are toed in, if it's bigger then they are toed out. Adjust till there's a 1/16" toe in. You can go to 1/16 toe out if you have wobble with toe in.

Make sure that you measure from identical parts of the tire. I use a tape with a hook on one end, and read direct off the tape on the other tire.

For example, if you have a MT, measure from 2 lugs going the same direction (left for example). Do the same at the back of the tire.

\==============\ Front

\==============\ Back

As the last poster noted:
Front>Back = Toe out
Front<Back = Toe in

Shoot for 1/16 to 1/8" depending on tire size.

Based on your responses and your questions, I would suggest you take it to a shop and have it aligned.

Isn't that why people come on here, to get help, if you can't offer it or can't be bothered don't comment. Setting toe in is a piece of cake, no reason he can't be walked through it. Sorry we're not all master mechanics like you.

NO! while driving down the road the other day the front right hub went out and the u-joint is shot to many things to list that need to be fixed

This is the benefit of taking it to an alignment shop. They will check over all the other parts of the steering and suspension to see if anything is worn out that may be causing the tire wear problem. ALso, most places let you watch the mechanic as he adjusts your suspension. That way, you can get a good idea as to what is involved in checking and adjusting suspension/steering before you try to do your first driveway alignment. It usually takes more than a few posts by some guys on the internet to understand and adjust alignment angles.
