Ticketed for Jeep on jacks stands?

Had the code enforcement guy come give me a warning once. Had two jeeps in pieces in the driveway as i swapped bodies.

Called the guy the next day and spoke calmly with him about it. Explained there was no way I could have it back together within a week. I could have it done in a month if everything went right.

He gave me three months. And explained he was only out there because of a neighbor complaint. If someone calls, they have to come out.

Same lady called the police and the fire dept on us for having bonfires/parties in the back yard. Finally on 4th of July, the Fire inspector went over and told her " Dont call us again, its the 4th of July, wee have people blowing their fingers off. We dont have time for this"

Never heard from her again.

i pretty much had the same scenario happen. the guy just gave me a warning on my windshield to get it off of jack stands within like 10 days or something. i called him and pretty much the same thing happened, i got an extension on the 10 days. he was pretty cool about it, just said someone complained so he had to come or the city could be sued or whatever if the jeep fell on a kid. he didnt care if i worked on it, just told me to try and make it look like it isnt on jack stands with no wheels all the time.

that sounds like serious BS...

I have no suggestions other than when he comes back I would knee-cap him.

Brings back memories...
I bought my first Wagoneer 30 years ago from a guy in Burlington who given the same warning. He was at the point of getting a ticket every week.

get it to a storage yard quick.

Sounds like the bull I put up with with my crazy neighbors when I first moved in. They called the township on me and told them I was running a illegal shop out of my garage and nearly got a 500 dollar fine :flamemad: but most recently (this is good) they called the police on me for running my generator during hurricane sandy. :flame: yea I was pissed so I offered everyone else on the block free power  good luck with it dude hope this cop isn't a total dick and works with you

Sounds like some of you have gotten easy code inspectors to deal with - the guy I had was a real donkey d***.

I tried to be civil, all he could do was lecture me. One of the vehicles we were being cited for we didn't own, I patiently explained that we didn't own it, and he kept asking me when I was going to move it?

"I can't move it. I am not able to. It is not mine. I don't have keys for it. I'm not going to push it with the transmission in Park, I have bad knees and don't need that."

"When are you going to move it?"

Amazingly, I never lost my temper with him - the strongest thing I said to him was when the damned fool was around and I was on my way to run errands and he kept trying to talk to me. I ignored him. He finally waddled in front of me and asked me why I don't want to talk to him? "Because you won't shut the Hell up. I'm not in school, and I'm not paying you to lecture me. You're enforcing asinine rules and acting like a newly-minted 2LT, and I don't have to deal with them anymore either."

My wife wrote a letter to his boss (when it calls for politeness & professionalism, she handles it. When it needs a new orifice drilled from the inside out, that's my job,) and he was quite civil and willing to work with us.

I found out about three months later that the imbecile that came around wasn't working for the City anymore - in ANY capacity - and he wasn't allowed to retire. I don't know if we got him fired, but the vindictive part of me likes to think we did...

I'm not sorry - from the demeanour he shewed me, I don't think he should have been in charge of anything higher than his own shoes.

Who do they write the ticket to? Property owner?

Just say that's Steve Rubicon, he took his jeep apart ad left it like that. Then they write a ticket to him. Idk just guessing here.

Good thing we have a garage, my brother averages 1.5 years on his simple projects. But does it inside the garage so no one can see them. Except me when I need to work on something.

thanks for the responses everyone. I have a whole list of laws that lead me to believe im perfectly legal. but just incase a friend gave me a d30 with some wheels to stick under so it looks like its sitting on all 4 from the road.

if he checks under the cover and still gives me an issue then maybe my neighbors would prefer a fence of pallets like someone suggested.
