Throttle body....

ok, so i had a friend bore out my TB to 62mm. He did a great job, except he didnt have the measurements for the TB plate. There has been a whistle thats really annoying at 1/2 throttle, and i think its because there is a small space in the plate where its not touching the tb.

So my question, is could someone PM my the measurements for the 62mm TB plate?

thanks

You measure the throttle plate across the centerline of the bolt holes. It will be bigger in the other direction. And it goes in right-side-up (beveled in the angle that it meets the throttle body). If the plate is "62mm" you should bore the TB .003-.005" larger. This way the plate won't bind in the TB. You would have seen a little light all the way around the stock plate too. None of this has anything to do with the whistle. The hump at the bottom of the TB (that got bored out) and the edges of the idle air ports are different now, and at certain velocities (vacuums) it will whistle. Get used to it, you can't go back. I have 62.5mm plates for the home-borers. Call me, MIKE

So with a larger TB, how bad does it affect fuel economy? Noticed the ones in Quadratec (and else where) have a crazy core refund and the larger TB ends up only being like $10 + shipping.

Usually you give a core or deposit in addition to the cost of the part. The core deposit is returned when you return your original part.

With the 62mm TB, fuel economy may improve slightly but you may also be tempted to romp on the gas to use the extra performance in which case, your gas mileage could get worse instead.
