I don't have a stock jeep here to get these answers.

Buyin my bro a 97 cherokee. Were gonna put whats left of my old lifts on it for a BB.

1. I've got a set of aftermaket shakles that measure 6" from eye to eye. How much lift will that net? Will I need shims?(I've got some old ones) I've got a 2" block too. But I remeber how crappy it drove with that.

2. Do we need shocks? This will not have discos so the front wont flex much.(Acutaly it won't be offroad either).

3. Vibes. Will I need a t-case drop. I think I've got my old one layin around if I need it.

I cant think of anything else.

I hate myself, this is noobie.

Thanks

The shackles are going to give you 1.5 inches of lift. If you are combining a 2" block with shackles I would do a tranny drop about an inch. Go to your local hardware store and get 1" square steel tubing and drill 2 holes to match the crossmember bolts. Then get longer bolts, and put it together, it cost me about 10 dollars to do. I would use the correct shims to make the driveshaft and yoke angles the same. If you can find it, i would use 2.5"x3* shims. I don't see how blocks would ride crappy, it still has stock spring rate. (I am assuming that you were talking about 2" block for the rear, but maybe you mean a 2" spacer for the front. If that is what you mean, they you could probably get away without shims or tranny drop if you were just doing shackles. Possibly a 1" tranny drop though if you are picky with your vibes.)

Again, I will give you both answers, as I don't know if you meant 2" spacers for the front or 2" blocks for the rear. If you are talking about spacers up front, then you can get away without shocks, but will be limiting your full potential flex. But that is no biggie since you are keeping your swaybars on, im assuming in the rear as well. If you mean a 2" block in the rear combined with shackles, then yes I would go with new shocks or you will be bottoming out everywhere. Hope that helps you out...

Appreciate the input. I Finaly found the answers i was lookin for after 9 pages of searchin. I'm only liftin the jeep 2". So I'm just gonna use the front spacer and rear shackle. (Blocks were an option if I couldt use the shackle, They also will wrap your springs). I've got 3 sets of tclk's in the garage now. So if i need to lower the case I can. I also have a shim, if I need it. I'm just gonna run the stock shocks. This will not be an offroad vehicle. So I dont think it will matter. And also found a thread that leaves me to believe that stock shocks are longer than the ones you get w/ a bb anyway. Cant think of anything else im missin. This will be the smallest lift ive ever done:)

Hey, don't feel bad, this is good info for me as well. It's been so long since I've dealt with a production lift that I couldn't tell you who sells what!

I'm BBing our '99 DD for aesthetic purposes. It just looks so gay stock. Got some bling 16" factory "Icon" alloys and some 245/75R16's to round out this pimp ride! :D

I'm adding a leaf to the rear pack though, because we carpool in this mobile, and we go down the road kind of saggy in the rear.

I totally agree. Cherokees all sit just a little to low from the factory. This is for my Bro. Hes in College at state and his other car burned up.(97 Pontiac) Insurance companys payin out about 5000.00. This will be great for him and he can carry his crap.

So, Does everyone think It'll ride level? Shackle and poly spacer? I hope so.
