Overkill. Wrap it up real good in duct tape and slap it back on! The tape will keep it nice and warm too!

That was done once. Woody was wheeling somewhere and they basically duct taped the alt together to get him out of the woods and to the parts house.

I could see that. Hot alternator and cold water. Matter of fact, hotter than usual alternator as it was already screaming (i.e. bearing failure and more heat than usual).
