Yeah ... I agree.

He has also written books where the "hero" is intolerant of women, and uses gutteral language not fit for a Marine or Sailor.

Ok ... the womanizing and gutteral language ... c'mon, you're saying marines and sailors don't screw and use bad words? I grew up on Army bases all over the US ... there's nothing wrong with sex and cussing, in my opinion. And I know it would be pretty much impossible to write a book about any sort of military outfit without having characters cussing and talking about sex with women. If the military only accepted non-cussing boys still holding their mama's skirts, we'd have a badly understaffed (and underqualified) military.

Now that's much more serious ... which of his heroes had sex with kids? Which book? Give me the character's name and which book. I just find that hard to believe. It sounds like you heard a political smear job. I'll believe it when I see it.

I hold lawyers, journalists, car salesmen and politicians in very low regard.

In general, I would agree with you ... but the shit Webb's done fighting for his country ... he's earned my respect and the respect of my "redneck" father. And the first thing he did as a lawyer was clear the name of a marine grunt accused of violating the rules of engagement. He did that pro-bono (free of charge).

In my world growing up, there were two types of people that I learned I should watch out for: cityslickers and rednecks.

A cityslicker would spend $250 to replace a starter motor that cost $0.40 to fix.

A redneck would bury his junk cars in the yard out front of his trailer.

A cityslicker would spend $500 to fight his way through airports to waste 5 days trapped in crowds of thousands at some theme park while his wife spends $800 on crap nobody needs...and he'd truely feel that he had a great time!

A redneck would use a rifle to shoot a hole in the wall to provide access for the satelite cable so he can watch reruns of the Duke boys on his rent-to-own 57" flat panel projection home theatre system while his wife is down at the Salvation Army begging shoes so the kids have something to wear to school.

My Dad's favorite joke: What's the difference between a rich redneck and a poor redneck? A rich redneck has two cars jacked-up in the front yard!

My Dad had five cars jacked-up, but they were all in the back yard, so he wasn't a redneck - and he never paid anybody $250 for a starter motor. Heck! He never paid $250 for a car, so he weren't no cityslicker, neither.

Just on a side note: What I call redneck, my wife calls 'Hoosier'. As in, "You need to cut the grass - this place is starting to make us look like hoosiers."

The word "Redneck" is starting to piss me off. I don't know why ... I used to use the word all the time without second thought. Growing up, I was never part of the "redneck" crowd, and never felt offended when I heard it or read it. I grew up with with a definite liberal bias.

Bold indicates your whole problem.

If you grew up normal you would have a lot thicker skin and realize that words are just that...words.

I have been called a redneck many times. Sometimes its in a nice friendly way and other times it was meant to hurt.

Fortunately I grew up in a lifestyle that taught me to be tough and not let things such as stupid words hurt.

That is the biggest problem with the world we live in today. Too many people are worried about getting their poor little feelings hurt.

This guy is funny and smart as hell. And what he writes has a strong ring of truth to it. This is a good read for anybody interested in the un-taught truths about whites in America.

I mean ... Jesus Christ ... the first chapter is titled: "White Niggers Have Feelings Too!" How funny is that?

I don't always agree with everything I read, and I'm sure there's plenty in this book I'll disagree with, but I'll read it and get some info I've never had before.

You hit the nail on the head.I'm soooooo sick of all this PC crap- its the continued pussification of America.There are too many people (usually Liberals as well as the religious right - sorry, I call it like I see it) that feel the need to decide what is right/safe for everyone else so they can pat them selves on the back at the end of the day to feel all warm and fuzzy.All I have to say to these people is BUTT OUT and concentrate on your own damn life and leve me to live mine.As far as the word "Redneck" goes...... It doesn't bother me- its just a word.Quit being so damn hypersensitive.
