The search function

Could a admin drop the search function down to 2 or 3 chars so more searches can be done? I can do a search for swap and find tones of pages of what I am not looking for, but can't do a search for 350 to find what I am looking for. tyia:geek:

Refine your search, you must.

Sorry, dropping it down to smaller words would bloat the search. Words like "at", "the" "or" etc.... would all be stored. However, if you looked in the User Support forum, you would have seen this has alreadu been discussed. :)

To that end, you can do a wild card search:
use a star (*) in searches to match partial words? (Eg: 'bu*' matches 'bug' and '*bu*' matches 'vBulletin').

You can also get better search results by either using the Advanced Search and searching the particular forum you think is most likely to cover your topic.... or just enter that forum cat. and then use the "search this forum".

HTH.

If that's what you want to focus on instead of those who took the time to help you, then hit the road! I'm almost sorry I took the time to write my search tutorial, let alone respond to this post.

You are correct, not improper, but a little played out. It seems all anybody can do is say "do a search" or "its already been discused". Well We do the search on a question that has been asked a million times, and not one answer to the question, only 88 pages of the same answer "do a search" or Its already been discused". Its as if nobody wants to help another person out, unless its the easy way out by saying one of the 2 quotes I have brought up.
