He kept it on the DL, Roy was a great guy really nice and a pleasure to talk to. I am a huge Charger fan.. and don't like the Sea Hawks.. Especially since he helped the Sea Hawks beat them down last september.. However.. he is a great guy and quite the ball player.

You never know who you will meet out there.

Here he is-

DawgCherokee (Ben) brought him out. I hope he enjoyed it and you guys had a good time. It was good to meet you both. I like to meet the guys that helped the NWC become what it is today.

It was funny.. I heard so many rumors about other people being NFL players.. or X-NFL players.. it was great.

i heard that some guy named dave played tight end for the buffalo bills

Yeah Roy Lewis... He rode shotgun in my Jeep on the rocks, up and down a couple times, then did a kickass job driving back in Ben's JK. It was fun to have an NFL Cornerback giggling like a little girl in my passenger seat. :D

LOL That's pretty cool so was he there for a one day ride or did he stay a few nights out there? Just goes to show you really never know who will be out on the trails lol

I overheard who he was but I don't pay attention to fooseball so he was just a cool guy. man, talk about cult of personality, Roy could walk into a room full of strangers and have half of them inviting him over for barbecue in ten minutes. He's like the nicest, easiest to talk to guy ever

After seeing the grin on his face when we got down to the bottom after our run that day I wouldn't be at all surprised if he bought one of the JK's to get out and play in.
Absolutely a great guy to introduce to our world of wheeling.

One of those things, where i wish i didnt know.. very down to earth guy, and probably enjoys just blending in..:dunno:

As much as you guys enjoyed meeting Roy, he enjoyed all of you even more. The way he was at NW Fest is the way he is every day. Except on the field during games. A totally different person there.

He's a good guy, the NFL type that doesn't make news because he spends so much of his free time volunteering at elementary schools and not being an idiot.

Thanks again to everyone for treating him so well and making both of us feel welcome, especially since it was his first time (Phil, you should have been more gentle).

Haha, hey I set my back bumper down very gently on those rocks when we came down. :moon: He did very well for his first time out. Glad he enjoyed himself.

He sure enjoyed my Guinness clone though. :D I'll have to make another batch now.

Dawg, You and Roy should come down to the PDX area and we can show you guys our neck of the woods.
It was really nice meeting you both. Roy was very cool and laid back. A real open and down to earth kinda guy. Just wish I would have been in the group to wheel with him. Glad you guys had a good time.

Sounds like something that would be fun. Give us some advance warning and we'll try. If the lockout ends soon, we may have to wait until after Seahawk the season is over.

well now i wish i wasnt on that 18 hour runs i would have loved to have met him. its amazing how normal some "rich" people are and dont let it get to their heads. those are the kind of people that make this world a better place overall

He blended in so well he was there Thursday and Friday...when you guys weren't on your 18hr run. :D

Not all pros live rich. Some are smart enough to know that the earnings window can be very small and the money has to last a long time. I don't think Roy would mind people knowing that his biggest extravagance is a 60" TV and a Netflix subsrciption.

And don't worry about not meeting him. He had a blast, loved being with everyone, and I'm sure we'll be back next year.

Just talked with Roy after he finally had a chance to read the NWFest posts. He again wanted to let everyone know how much he enjoyed his first time off-roading. More importantly, he really loved meeting so many people and how everyone made him feel such a part of the group, happily answering every newbie question he had.

He's already comitted to next year's Fest and hopefully a run or two before then.
