I agreed lol. I've broken two long side joints and decided it was time for some new axle shafts. Well instead of buying them for the D30 I decided I'd swap in a Ford HP44 and 9". It's been sitting in the yard while I collect parts for the swap. I've been procrastinating so hopefully I'll get some new progress pictures up before too long. Got the 44 & 9 with most all the bracketry and truss. Also got some 35s. It's only $$$ right :bawl:
Just ordered gears, lockers and new wheels for the swap. Also picked up a D300 and 231 doubler kit... now just to put it all together. I'm going to try and get the axles cleaned up and the Jeep in the shop. Hopefully I'll have some progress pictures this week.
Finally back making some progress. Spent some quality time with the cut off wheel and grinder. A couple hours later I freed the axles from their Ford bracketry.
Started tearing into a spare 231 to prep it for the doubler. Purchased the doubler from FrogFab in Sept. Just now getting around to it
Ran into a problem when the new shorter shift rod turned out to be a little too long and wouldn't let the plate set down flat. I contacted FrogFab to see if i should grind it down or if it needs to be machined.
Figured I'd go ahead and hack it up while i wait
Also removed some disc brake knuckles from another donor axle then cleaned the shop and got it ready to pull the Jeep in. Hopefully tomorrow morning.
