Is it just me or does this look like a terrible idea.
I cant see a way to aim the thing, What if the person forgets or stops taking their meds and freaks out on the visiting nurse or grandchild and shoots them.
Since its a class 1 medical device can it be taken into court and schools?

Intended for use by the elderly and disabled, the single-shot 9-mm weapon looks like a giant bean grasped in the palm of the hand.
This just seems like a terrible idea.

Even better, Constitution Arms says it's had it certified by the FDA as a "Class I Medical Device." That means doctors could prescribe the handgun to qualified patients, who would then have some or all of the cost reimbursed by Medicare or private insurance.
How does this qualify as a medical device? And I don't see why in the world a doctor should be prescribing a hand gun to their patients.

i didnt read more than the first 3 stanzas before i closed the page. its a terrible idea.

if my grandpa shot one round for every time he didnt hear someone come up from behind him and scare him, the number of bodies would be ridiculous.

The market will determine if this is wanted or not.

Then it looks like we will be seeing these very soon.
The part about it not looking like a gun will just cause any real attacker to just keep on doing what he is doing because they think its just some thing the old fart grabbed, then BAM. and hopefully they don't shoot themselves or their oxygen tank when they are searching for it in the dark.

Gangsters dream weapon. Easy to conceal, doesn’t look like a gun, just walk up to someone, poke ‘em in the ribs, and pop.

One shot, probably loud as hell, and looks like a butch's douche bag. I don't think you could get much further from the ideal banger gun if you tried. I have trouble believing this is anyone's ideal gun.

It is a tool, just like a hammer.

it is a Class 1 device because it is ergonomicly designed.

Well I do not see an immediate use for it....I do see that it could be usefull.

I would class it with the pen guns, cane guns, cellphone guns...etc.

I like the fact that it does not "look" like a gun.

I've known folks in wheelchairs who possess the mental capacity to know when/where/how to use firearms...but simply lacked the strength to handle a full-blown handgun. Many of them I know carry knives because of that. I think this is a wonderful idea for that demographic.

I think many of you are really over-analyzing this and punishing an entire group based on stereotypes.

I agree with what you're saying to a point, but if I were in that situation, I'd rather have a small frame .22, with multiple shots than some awkward, single shot pistol-like thingy.

It's hard to tell what people will want though. Time will tell if anyone finds a use for this device or not.

You don't lack fine motor skills though, do you? ;)

I still think this is unfairly blown out of proportion and sensationalized by the *gasp* media.
