That doesn't look too bad.

Complain when you have to do a heater core and remove the entire dash. Steering column? No problem! All you have to do is basically sit in the seat......

You can do it! It's not that hard to take apart. The only special tools needed are a steering wheel puller, plate compressor and some torx bits. You can buy and/or rent these at most auto parts places. For a pin puller, vise grips and a screw will work. They're not that tight. The hardest part is lining the linkage up when reassembling.

Being a Locksmith I can do one in about 40 min. with the right tools.

Just take your time and lay out all the parts on the dashboard in order of disassembly. You might even take pictures to help remember which way things go back together.

The folks who live in the other side of the duplex where I live blew a head gasket in her 2000 Chevy sedan (transverse V6) before Christmas. He's finishing up replacing one head (cracked) and putting all the wiring back today. Even in his garage, it's damned cold out there. 14 degrees F outside right now. A Coke is freezing solid in the glass out there.

<grin> It does now, apparently. Jenny isn't a hot rod, and in the cold, her car is always warming up before she moves it.

BTW, Gil...... the garage Deb & I have here is gargantuan. Big enough to park her Civic, my pop-up camper, my Heep, 3 wire racks, a work bench and still some work room. Good flat concrete floor, and a clear span (no posts in the middle.)
