I'm not sure the advantage is worth the hassle. So far, my tie rod is unscathed.

My Currie has been hit a few times and has a slight bow to it. It would be nice to get it up a little higher but I am sure I will still hit it, I'm a crappy driver. LOL

I welded on some sway bar extension brackets (from Poly Performance) a while back and am hoping they will be tall enough to clear the TRE. Looks like it, at least. Your thoughts?

I am sure it will clear. How much higher was the hole compared to stock?

Here's a pic from page 1 of the FB. The driver's side is the same size. I'd say it is 5-6" taller.

I read all 39 pages last night and I judt want to say this jeep is awesome. I don't usually like red cherokees but this thing is so clean looking and everything done to it is don't cleanly. Its my background on my computer. Great job!

Dude, that's awesome, and a tad scary ha ha. Thanks for spending the time, but I feel bad because you'll never get that time back. :looney: I did not want a red Jeep either. I loved the look of Old Blue, and I have always been fond of green. When I found this Jeep on Craig's List, I could not refuse it because it was in perfect shape inside and out, and very well maintained. Aside from the color, this Classic was perfect for me.

As I began doing mods, the color started looking better to me. Dressed in black steel trim, I now like the color and I love the bright contrast against the trails. Come to think of it, I have never really seen a modded XJ that I did not like! Thanks again for the kind words. Oh, and welcome to the FB. Stay tuned for more mods. Just waiting for the pockets to fill...

What do your 33's measure out to? A true 33?

I called and had my kid measure the spare tire that is lying on the garage floor. With no weight on it, 5,000 miles of wear, and pressurized to approx 35 psi, the tire measures 32.25" tall. yeah, that is disapointing to me also. He measured it two different ways and came up with the same answer both times.

Next he is going to measure his Kevlar 32x11.50's to see what those yield.

well thats not too bad haha
my 31's measure out at 29" :(

31x11.5 Kenda Klevers.
I know, I never heard of them either. Not that bad of a tire though.
They've got about 2/5ths of the tread left... maybe 1/4
Let me go measure the spare (never used)

To my knowledge, tires are supposed to be measured to the bottom of the tread, so most 33's would measure out at more than 33". Seems as if I'm wrong though lol.

EDIT: How much was the Spartan if you don't mind me asking?

I paid 220 for the Spartan, but had it installed by a local shop in Loomis, so I paid for the install as well. Go for the Aussie. Supposed to be stronger for 33" and up.

Got the first coat on my upper quarter guards today, They need a second coat though. My roommate let the dog out right as I got done painting the backside of the guards, stupid hooker got crap all over them.

Perhaps. I had my D30 carrier replaced to accommodate the Spartan locker, so I'm not sure it that is it either...unless the new carrier is as weak as the D30. I have not done the research on that, unfortunately.

A new carrier for the Spartan locker or for your gears? you need a new carrier when you regear to 4.10 or higher.

I would like to see these when you get them on. What color did you go with? I got my tail light boxes, won them at SierraFest thanks JCR!, and attempted to paint them to color match the jeep. Like JCR did with the upper quarter guards shown on their site.

well long story a little shorter I effed up the first attempt and scrapped and sanded everything back down and then the next try went much better. That is until my two year old went out side with me and touched the pretty shinny boxes!

At $18 a can that was then end of that can and my last attempt.

Yeah, the d30 carrier sucks, locked on 33's can kill it.

Thats why and ARB or ox is the way to go up front!

Well its gonna be a little delayed. Of course its crappy out on my day off! If it clears up I can put another coat on them and throw them on. I just went with black for now. I also have Tail light boxes I'm gonna paint black. I may go to body color later but for now black will work.

Went to Pick N Pull Saturday morning looking for parts. Bought a spare tie rod with good TRE from a ZJ for 20 bucks. Saw several stock front driveshafts that I wanted, but decided to wait for a half off sale. There is a very good condition ZJ on the extreme south side of the lot that I figure could only have been there for a day or two, with suspension, driveline, steering, and motor still intact. I should have posted that when I returned Saturday, but I got busy. Also found plenty of replacement vacuum line connections and hardware for my XJ. Gotta love the PNP.

Found one LeBaron with missing hood louvers. I'm pretty sure that is all a LeBaron is good for.
