The Frog Blog

I don't know if you guys deal with this or not, but I typically end up in long conversations with XJ owners I meet in parking lots. I have already logged a couple of hours since last Thursday due to impromptu Jeep discussions. Met a guy with a sweet looking Scout yesteday, and talked to a guy in Lincoln building up a long arm lift on his beater XJ. This doesn't make me gay, does it?

had a guy in a lifted early 80s Toyota wave at me, i waved back.....does that make me gay?

people really dig XJs when there lifted, i have gotten more attention in my XJ then any car/truck/suv...

Most of the guys in town with beaters look at my Jeep like I don't wheel it. I can't help it its still shiny other than 1 door. Most be all the bolt-ons! :D

No, unless the conversation revolved around how you liked the way the seats feel when you drive around in your chaps.

Oh man, I love my chaps. They offer a perfect dichotomy of freedom and security through the simple, yet manly leather boundary separating my bare skin from the harsh, dangerous world. Chaps don't make me gay, do they?

i was in need of a new sig line...& once again you saved the day...:patriot:

Since I sold my Civic, I've been driving the XJ to work and back each day this week (70 miles round trip). I now remember why I bought the Civic. Ga$ is expen$ive.

Also, I noticed that I regained my cruise control and horn. I lost my horn, cc, and airbag sometime during Sierra Fest. I have cleaned, lubed, and twisted the instrument cluster connectors numerous times with no luck. I suddenly got my cruise control and horn back, which is great for the commute. Who needs an airbag anyway?

This has been a commute-centered, regaining the intermittent electrical connections Frog Blog update.

Kelly,

I just bought a VW TDI Golf. 45MPG!:moon:

XJ dont care for it though.

I prefer driving the XJ anyway. It smells, has crappy steering, has a noticeable lack of power, is hard to climb into, and has very loud road noise, but I dig it. The Frog turns heads. The WK does not.

I feel the same way about my slow stinky jeep, if you take the doors off it turns twice as many heads too! Great thread

x2

and add some baja fenders and a custom cowl hood to that list and it really turns some heads

I had an interesting XJ conversation with a guy at the McD's drive through in Lincoln today. I ordered a Filet O Fish. He told me all about his Cherokee and his plans. I talked him out of lift blocks.

I took advantage of the JCR Offroad Black Friday sale and ordered a Stage 2 rear bumper today. I'm expecting that to be the very last part for the Frog in 2010. What a year for upgrades...

According to my spreadsheet, I put 10k into the Frog this year, and that is after selling off old parts to offset the cost of the new stuff. 2011 will be different and I'll just maintain, improve, and enjoy the parts I have. Gears, lift, and tires set me back 5k alone.

Your not suppose to itemize or total these types of things. It never makes you feel better.

BTW what the heck did you spend the other $5K on?

Josh

Everything from new rear seat belts ($400) to SYE, driveshaft, chaps, exhaust, engine mounts, bumpers, protection galore, and little fuzzy dice for the mirror.

Go ahead and ask. I've got it all itemized down to the penny, along with vendor, date, and mileage when installed. I'm sick.
