The Dana 34 Project: The Ultimate turd polish!

Wow you literally polished it. I suggest chroming it too... just because.

My house is pretty boring. This is all at the Ironman4x4fab building. That's why the lathe is so nasty. its only 1.5 years old and has threaded about 1600 control arms, sleeves, bushing housings etc. It gets cleaned out quite often but you just cant keep a busy shop clean.

No, your house is definately not boring! ;)

ewwwww chrome.... I hate chrome... I even paint my hitch balls black.

Completely unrelated, but do you sell just a track bar bracket with brace?

I do sell the bracket with the cross brace on a individual basis, I like to talk to folks and make sure it will work with their track bar. Its about $100 for the bracket and cross brace.

I Got some carbide drills in today and made short work of the plug welds on the Dana 30 housing, I made a ram out of 2" DOM and 1.5 solid. I beat the hell out of it with a hammer and its almost all the way out on one side. Pics to come. I am looking for a 3.73 and up Dana 30 carrier if anyone has one they would like to donate to this shinaniganery!

Well Had Chrysler ever Boned up and put a V8 in an XJ I wouldn't have that problem.....
Any way here is a pic of the rear I am going to run, Its a 35 spline rear 60 full floater narrowed to 61" with discs 4.56 spooled.

A buddy of mine took it out of his buggy when he went to rear steer. It has been donated to the cause.

Sweet! So what kinda hubs it got? Was this the image you tried to send to my phone?

It has unit bearing hubs. Its from a 2003 F550.
I am trying to find some more info on it. we removed the 10 bolt adapters and I will pressure wash it and tear it down so I have a better handle on a game plan for it. Ill get all the measurements and then decide how much I will narrow it.

I May just bump the rear back to 8 lug because the 5.5 hubs are really$$$ the rear is as easy as knocking out the 5.5 pattern studs and popping new 8 lug studs back in.

It has the dual piston calipers on it. I would like to keep them but I feel I may end up with a 20" wheel.... Ew! I want lots of brakes and know these puppies will stop me great but at what cost to my master cyl. set up. Glen you have lots of research to do as I have lots of control arms to build so I need your butt in chair time that I don't have!

My basic intention is to narrow this, keep the 4.88 gear and run 1 high steer knuckle.

The dana 34 project is much heavier now.

Ball joints and unit bearings.

It is basically a D30 on steroids.

On 37s that will probably be A-OK.
