The build thread

Heh heh, yeah you must be numb-nut.

A couple weeks ago, I was in my truck delivering that '92 I had for sale to it's new home and stopped damn near right next to ya on Bowles at Kipling. I hollered, whistled, pulled forward waving at ya...... you just sat there staring and waiting for your turn arrow......... The gal in the car between ours was giving me such a look! :D

i always zone out when im driving and i musta had my music up too...

I also installed my RE HD Tracbar mount w/brace and Rusty's Steering gearbox brace. Tomorrow I'm going to work on removing the stock LCA mounts and installing the D44.

Way cool, Dutch! Maybe I'm missing something, but are there no LCA mounts on that D44?? :dunno: Did you take any pics of the install to convert it to 5 on 5.5?

They have been disguised as spring perches...and they don't hang below the axle?

They are there, you just can't seem them in the pic. I'll be bolting on the spindles and stuff after I get the axle hung.

Ok, I gotta play mother hen here.......

Great looking build Dutch.... you get some shit done when you're in the zone brutha!

However..... I've seen too many tragedies from exhaust routed like that. PLEASE folks - be sure not to leave kids, pets, people in your jeep for any length of time with it left running - particularly since you've got the floor plugs pulled. Exhaust gasses can and will build up in the high spots under the rig and work their way into the interior - especially with the slow driving our rigs see on the trail.

Ok, I feel better now.

At this rate you might be able to make November to remember IV!!!!! :moon:........... :D Lookin good Dutch!!!

My exhaust has been cut off at the hanger just before the axle ever since I put the 4.5" lift on it, no issues with people being killed inside it yet. The reason I pointed it out like that was because with the exhaust pointing straight at my fuel tank it had melted the plastic shield around it and after extensive driving you could smell the fuel being cooked. I am going to be adding an extension to carry it all the way out just past the rocker, besides the doors come off.

Well I got a little more done today.

Picked up a well used 35" tire to use as a spare. Also got me a new set of taillights for it.

Got the LCA mounts cut off pretty well and the arms installed, also got the D44 attached to them and up on jack stands. I need to put the shafts in it and install the new hubs and spindles. I also need to install my CRANE Diff cover and put fluid in it.

I got the radiator put back in and the header panel. Got the 2 out of 3 peices of my "new" black grill setup installed. (cough, cough, Troy :D)

I also installed the passenger side TJ mirror, you can see it perfectly through the windshield.

Too bad I already broke something, damn faulty brakeline leaks.

Thanks though, I think that truss and the thicker front axle tube conspired to give me a bit more lift than normal for a 6.5" spring. I'm also supposed to get almost 1/2" of extra from the thicker tube on the 8.8. Its pretty tall though, that 90 next to it has a 2" lift and 30's and it makes it look like a lowrider on daytons
