TB spacers

OK, are tb spacers worth getting or no? And if so what are some good brands out there to look at. Also, what are the benefits of a tb spacer?

Just a note. Even better than just a spacer is a bored-out TB (60mm or 62mm) + spacer. If you buy a bored TB now, you could install it the same time you install the spacer.

I was told by someone that, putting a tb spacer on could burn up valves. I do not think this is true, anyone care to comment.

FYI, I bought my TB spacer, 62mm, billet, on ebay for $27 (shipped I think) and it came with the gaskets. Sometimes you can reuse the old gaskets if they dont' stick. Dont buy some overpriced name brand spacer as it does exactly the same thing as the cheaper one. There's no science in making a 62mm circle in a 1" piece of aluminum. As for the TB goes...just bore your own out. It's not hard...and for the money you save, you can buy yourself the drill press to do it with if you don't already have one. See ya.

They also said it would blow your intake manifold gasket by putting on tb spacers. Just passing info that I hear on to the rest to see how it weighs out. LOL

Whoever said that was smokin' crack and blowing smoke out of his rear end. That's the biggest pile of horsecrap I've ever heard.

I agree. Crack smoking. If you can fit a TB spacer under the hood with your TB and cold air intake, why not. It will increase manifold volume a bit (good for when you step on it), and hey, if you dont that 1 MPG everybody promises, you are only out $32 bucks. Do it. I have one on mine, and my valves told me they are having a great time.

I know that in the 350 chevy motor I have that a TB spacer of 2" will give me better throttle response and a better top end but what will a 2" spacer do to the 4.0????

Would a 2" do anything or even be worth getting over a 1"...

Thanks.

I have also been watchin everyone talk about boring out their own TB's but I have only seen the pics of them boring out the bottom... are they boring the top as well?

It seems to me that you are still getting the same cfm at the top but getting better atomization through the TB in the bottom that way. Observations anyone???

No atomization on a "dry" FI system. Just a few more CFM through the bigger hole of a bored TB. Removing the "hump" changes throttle response. I haven't tested spacers. I'm not a big fan of them. A bit voodoo. 2" probably won't fit under the hood of an XJ. MIKE
