hey guys, i'm running on 30x9.5x15 bfg a/t's, and i don't have the money for a locker yet. i have an 8.25 waiting to go in, but i wanted to wait till i got a locker, some disc brakes, and a solid diff cover for it. if i break the 35, i can throw in the 8.25 a little early, just without the parts i wanted.
i know how they are in parking lots welded, but i like not having to use my winch every 10-15 minutes. what do you guys have to offer?

i say weld it too. ya got that other axle so it aint no biggie.

That shit will self destruct. I know from experience. Mine only lasted a year of stupid driving style and 34x10.5 LTB's. FWIW

I would weld it, its only a Dana 35, so if it breaks its not like it was worth anything anyway.

maybe he should've welded the drive shaft too...

and if you have the option, use a gas welder, WAY less slag to clean off/out.. you dont want that stuff in your gears or bearings or the axles wont be the reason you're swapping your shit.

^^good call, joe! thanks fellas! i'll prolly weld it next week sometime, and start collecting parts to build my 8.25. i want some liberty/ grand cherokee discs, aussie, and a solid cover, but i can settle with the brakes for now. the aussie and diff cover can come in one fell swoop. does anybody know where i could get some liberty brakes for the cheap? they swap right on to the xj 8.25

I've got Aussie's front and rear HP D30/8.25. Hard to beat for the $$ IMO!

I would have to agree, and say WELD IT!!! You've got nothing to lose, and already have it's replacement...
