I just wanted to pass on to folks some safety info about synthetic winch line. There is a fallacy that when it breaks, it will just fall to the ground and not harm anybody/anything. When mine broke today, it flew right past 2 people so fast they didn't even see it! The part the broke off srung all the back to the tree that it was attached to!

So please be careful when winching, even if you are using rope instead of cable!

I hope you put this in other threads besides this one too so everyone will see it.

What are you talking about??? I got through it w/o having to be pulled out like you.

glad you and co. are ok. I pulled a forklift outta the mud the other day, 4 low reverse, hard throttle and ten foot of cable with a ten foot strap doubled. As I was doing it I kept shrinkin in the seat. Our sport is dangerous, tell everyone stand away, far away.

Just have a loved one hold the line while your winching, that way it can only hurt one person instead of a group.

Then I will tell my wife to hold it (THE WINCH LINE IAN!) for me.

I broke a 100# test fishing line once, the way I was pulling I was pulling right toward myself. When it snapped and hit my stomach it looked like I had some kind of skin worms or something for a few hours (hurt pretty bad too)
