swaybar link bolt stuck (axle mount)

So been trying for like 2 weeks to get this damn bolt out an absolutly no luck i cut the bolt down so i could drill it but i can't get the damn thing to go on the bolt. im stuck!i have tried heat and that didn't work. tried everything and still no luck anyone have any tricks?

You do know it's not a bolt, right? I realize some twisted fawk at the factory designed them with a Torx head, but it's a pressed-in, splined unit. Get a pulley press from Vatozone and push it off the mount.

Or, drill through the Torx hole, then cut the bolt and head ends off, and punch the remaining donut out. Worked for me!

That's funny 'cause I didn't know that either. It spins freely now. I guess I just know all the right words to say...might have given blood also.

Yeah the bolt is basically threaded horizontally into the axle mount. Use a rounded off chisel. Place it where the bolt head and the bracket meet, in the little seam. Then hit the hammer end of the chisel a few times with a hammer. The bolt will then begin to push out. Continue using the chisel to separate it(making the seam larger) It will eventually pop out.

Try not to beat it out by hitting the nut end of the bolt. You will bend the links mount to the axle. If that breaks off, your in need of a welder.

I used an air hammer and a chisel bit to get them off my '98. Good luck.

Nope you probably didn't have them. I think it's later models only, not sure when they stated that.

I spent a lot of time on that bolt as well until I figured out it was pressed in. On one side we cut the bolt down so we could fit a small gear puller on it and press it out. On the other we used two BFHs - one pressed against the swaybar mount to keep it from bending while the other wailed on the end of the bolt. That worked too. ​

Welcome to our hobby!!!:repair: Can't even tell you how many times I have been frustrated or pissed off at my Heep!!! The main thing is to never give up and let your Heep win the battle. There is always a soulution to your delima!! If you remember I had suggested the heat and a BFH. That is what worked for me. You heat the bracket, not the pressed in bolt. Heat will transfer but the jist is to heat the bracket nice and hot, use the BFH to tap up, down several times and give a really good whack on the end and it should pop loose if not right out!!! If all the advice you have been given fails my offer still stands!

i did end up getting it out last night just wacked it a couple times hard as hell with a hammer
