my friend Joe (beaterjeepjoe) has an 86 comanche with a leaky-as-hell 2.8 v6. it's underpowered, and overwhelmed.
he and I are fairly familiar with the 2.5's as both our DD's are 2.5's (MJ for him, XJ for me) and I've had the motor in and out etc.
now, I'm wondering what you guys think of this...
I have a 1985 cherokee wagoneer that's a 2.5, ax5 4wd. it runs and drives but the body is wrecked. we want to put that 2.5 and manual 5 speed in place of his 2.8 and auto that is in his comanche.
I have the driveshafts for an ax5 longbed already, so that's easy. it will bolt in just fine since I have the correct motor mounts.
how big of a deal will it be to get the 2.5 to work properly in place of the 2.8? I know all about the peddles swap etc. and have all necessary equipment as well, the one thing we're gonna have a problem with is getting it to actually run.
now, the 85 2.5 is a carb'd motor that nets 17-19mpg. the 2.8 is a carb'd motor that nets half that on a good day
I'll need a 2.5 fuel pump correct? also what will I need for the carb to operate correctly? I don't want to swap the engine harness if I can avoid it...
