Swap time!!!

I am picking up the donor rig this evening.
Overall, I am losing $1000, but also getting a rig with 64,000 easy miles, compared to 106,000 rather hard ones.
My front bumper is going to have to be pulled and have some work done, but the rest should go somewhat easily.
I will be going at the drivetrain this weekend, and plan to do the interior and electrical tonight.
I need hands to help me make Winterfest.
T-case, axles, and suspension need to be done this weekend, with the new parts going on the old rig.
I have tools, a garage, and a propane heater.
The wyfe is a solid cook, and, of course, beverages will be provided.
PM me for directions if you can help out this weekend at all.
I am about an hour and a half from Chicago, and would appreciate any help I can get.

New rig is a '99 Classic, in black.

Exact same rig as mine when I drove it off the lot in late '98, except it lacks privacy glass, which will be fixed soon.
I am picking it up after work this evening, and doing the battery and cables, throttle body and spacer, intake, stereo, CO2 tank, and cargo storage this evening and tomorrow morning.
I will need help swapping transfer cases, axles, suspension, drivelines, wheels and tires, exhaust, and skids.

cheers,

UPDATE:
My friend is going to let me use his (CarX) shop and 2 lifts tomorrow night from 5-9.
Heat(!), tens of thousands of dollars in tools, and an alignment rack.
It is too cold for a garage and a propane heater. Also, there is so much shit in the garage that one heep has to stay in the drive.
Too cold.
Sunday is the day for trimming, engine crap, electrical, and miscellaneous.
I hope to get the t-case, exhaust and axles done tomorrow night, and then coast through the 'extras'.
Wife will still be cooking a Tenderloin Sunday, and booze will be provided if there is a lot to do Sunday.
It's getting better, day by day.
:sunshine:

Who's up for a Sunday trip to Milwaukee...

Is there a church nearby your place Scott?

I can't miss mass...

'Specially during lent...

:D

Am I the only one who is certain this is an elaborate hoax? A few nice photochoped scrapes and windshield spider web has you fools thinking he is really struggling

I bet Scott is going to show up at Winterfest in the same vehicle he had originally intended. He's probably hoping everyone will think he's a Jeep master.

I'm not fooled, Copperfield.

Looks like I'll be able to help Sunday, as well.

How's parking? Should I bum a ride from Rev or is there room for my heep?

Nice.
I could leave the windows on the new one untinted for Winterfest, but I won't. :D
Hope to get them done tomorrow morning, after I put in the CD player and engine bolt-ons.
If all goes smoothly, I will have the meat of it done tomorrow night.
I am pondering seeing how quickly I can destroy the stock Wrangler RT/S tires with the locked 4.88s.
As for parking, there is loads on the street.
House ain't an estate, but it's home.
Wyfe making Tenderloin and some other good stuff.
Beer will be present, briefly, both bought and homemade.
Depending on how crazy I get tomorrow night, Sunday may be more of a 'drinking club with a Jeeping problem' type-thing.
I guess there are worse things.

I will of course be bringing homebrew...

Isn't "drinking club with a Jeeping problem" the very definition of MWC?

hows it going today country? whish i could help your guys out - though an 8hr drive would really set me back

Fawking tired.
I finished what I could at 1:30 a.m., and drank another 6'er before bringing the rigs home.
It's 3:30 now.
My old heep came apart like a finely tuned rifle.
I didn't take the Midwest Donor Factor into effect.
I hate salt.
My rear axle and leafs were out in 20 minutes.
As for the new rig, all 4 shock bolts broke off, and the front bushing on the right leaf was seized to the bolt, and spun the nut in the little pocket dealie.
Had to torch the bushing and cut the bolt, and make a hole in the bottom of the reinforcing plate and put a new nut in there, soon to be welded, and the hole covered, Beezil. :D
Used 3 breaker bars and 2 prybars.
Brakes uncooperative in general.
Cliff's Notes:
Front and rear axles and suspension in, brakes bled, wheels balanced, IPF headlights in, CO2 tank and bracket in, stereo and speakers in, throttle body on, spacer on, airbox in, and all old equipment on the donor rig. (Yeah, I know, minus a bushing or two, but it's going to scrap, so get over it)
Not bad for one night's work.
Still need to do t-case, xmember, skids, battery and HD cables, rock rails, rear bumper, plugs and wires, and Hella relay wiring.
I am beat, see some of you tomorrow.
