Is it my feeble memory or was there a SW chapter when I joined wayyyy back when...? And if not, which chapter hosts the great state of Texas? Actually, I;m a displaced Yankee from NYC, but I don't see my current state of residence represented on any other chapters...?

TIA

There once was a Texas chapter, but for one reason or another there wasn't enough continued interest in it to keep it active.

I say we roll it out there! I don't see texas covererd under any of the other chapters, so perhaps we need to just have a SW or Texas Chapter? Kind of egotistical to assume one state for a single chapter, so SW chapter sounds more humble...

You need to gather up a minimum of fourteen interested NAXJA Members, three of whom will be elected (by the chapter members) to serve as Chapter Officers: Pres, VP, Recorder/Treasurer. You could have five officers, but to KISS, three is fine to start.

Decide what territory your proposed Chapter will encompass, and what you all intend to do with the Chapter.

Present that in writing to the NAXJA Board of Directors and we'll go from there...

Keep in mind that the vast geography was part of the problem in the original TX Chapter. The time/distance thing led to a lack of participation and the eventual demise of it as a functional Chapter. Have a plan to overcome that. The Midwest Chapter covers a lot of ground, but they seem to have good participation and motivated chapter members... maybe PM or email some of them and seek advice.

Good luck!

Thanks Don!

I was researching the chapter org rules & regs, but this will work. I do remember the distance and participation levels were flatlining for a bit there but I believe we might have more interest and more XJ population now, since the XJ is becoming one of the more modified rigs we see on the trails.

I would think that we could use some additional research that might help us in TX - might I request (from you, Don) a private summary of User List info regarding the 1st/2nd/3rd largest member locations? No need for obvious specifics to keep user confidentiality, but just a top 3 ranking of users who might be interested in becoming an officer...keeping an officer in each of the largest TX concentrations might keep the chapter involved, rather than having all three officers from DFW, Austin, etc. Is this a possible search feature?

TIA! :wave1:

There is, also, the small matter of needing to be a NAXJA member, to be a chapter member.
Best not to put the cart in front of the horse.hasta
You have sent in your dues, right?

After joining, you may peruse the members roster, at will.

I can see my house.
Really!

I was referring to the funky cat picture in your last post.
Actually, I do hope Texas gets back into the swing again.

Highly unlikely.
The only way Oklahoma would secede, would be, if there was another Okie Terry chapter, again.

justin i need to talk with you on this issue...can i contact you at 6999 shop number?? ||charles||

You can on Saturday 10 -4...I'm outta there this week - working another project right now, but look forward to talking with you on Saturday.

I'm assuming (always dangerous) that your interest might meen a volunteer for an officer spot and I'd volunteer also, bringing a few years of LSJC officer experience to the tables so we'd need a third...hopefully not DFW based to keep the state coverd, plus the other 2 officers to complete the 5 on the board. For a meeting locale, we could use the shop space, if we're basing the TX Chapter out of DFW...? Also, it would appear form loose research that all other lesser states are covered by lesser chapters, so it will be a solo state chapter for the great state of Texas, but we will always welcome other states that have seen the light of the Lone Star! just a lil' smack talk to be taken lightly from a Jeeper with out a chapter, charter, and half an XJ carcass right now ;)

I do believe we'll call Jeepin' Jason to involve him too, since he has a lot of great ideas for this effort also...

Charles - talk to ya Saturday...
