I just bought a 2000 xj sport. As is sits now its bone stock. I was wondering what lifts you guys recommend. I'm looking at around a 3in lift. I'm on a budget so i was looking for the best bang for my buck. Thanks guys

For the most part, companies making 3" kits for the XJ have all the same components. The kits usually all include new front coil springs, fixed lower control arms, brackets to re-locate the track bar on the existing bracket, and brake line relocation brackets. Where some differ is the rear spring options. Some offer new leaf packs, others offer an add-a-leaf kit and/or a shackle kit.

What you might want to ask yourself is if you think you might end up going bigger in the future. If so, look to save yourself some $$$ and buy a used kit from someone who had "inch-itis" and is getting rid of their 3" kit to go bigger.

Regardless if you go new or used, you need to determine what kind of use the XJ will get. Many guys that wheel their rigs regularly haven't been too satisfied with the add-a-lift springs because they lose their arc after a few times being flexed - especially when the XJ is loaded with camping gear. Simply using a lift block and rear shackles will always disappoint as the factory leafs will sag quickly.

One of the first complaints many XJ owners have with their first experience with a 3" lift is front drive shaft vibes and "death wobble" Be sure to search threads with those titles to learn how to fix these problems before you dive into the lift.

Good Luck and happy searching!

Thank you very much,

Well I don’t think that I will be doing to much crazy wheeling to begin with. I guess just a weekend warrior. I still owe on the Jeep!!! But I went out wheeling with some buddy and just fell in love with the Jeep Cherokee and after a ling time searching, I found just what I was looking for. In stead of buy a Jeep already done up I decide to buy one that was mechanically sound 1st of all and then build it just how I want. I guess there is just a bit of pride when you do the work you self.

Thanks again

thats a good idea... then you know whats been done and by who... check out rustys, rubicon express and 4wd's kits... full traction too theres a bunch for that size lift even superlift... i guess the onlt thing with 3 inch is a transfer case drop that should be it and you can fit 30's or 31's maybe with some minor trimming good luck on your money pit!

Do any of you guys have any rims your looking to get rid of. The ones I have now suck... They have this crappy crome plastic insert over them and it looks like im going to rob a 7 11 in comption...hahaha

What rims do you guys run????? What do you recommend????

Here is a tech article I did some time ago, that could help you out if you are on a tight budget: http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/home_brew_budget_boost.htm
It's not really a 3" lift, but there are ways to alter it and get a full 3".

I am also in the springs, so if you want to come by and talk jeeps, get some pointers, etc., just give me a call sometime and you are more than welcome to come by. 360-7414
