I thought that only those out to destroy this country could have an opinion, much less an agenda. What kind of nut case would try and defend his country's sovereignty? We owe all these people a place for demonstrating in the streets, demanding our nation and our laws be changed because they won't do it in their own country.

Someone takes my statements and turn them into judgements.

What I posted was mostly fact, except for the agenda thing. But even so, I never said that I felt that the agenda was misguided or that I disagreed with it. I merely pointed it out as a possible reason why someone would put faith in numbers that are clearly incorrect and obviously meant to be misinterpreted. Perhaps someone a little less obsessive about the issue would have looked at the numbers and realized the inconsistencies...

If someone is trying to inform me, they should at least use information that makes sense - and those numbers do not...

And as matter of fact, I did donate blood today... but how did you know?

I wonder if many of the people with an oppinion or who have done a study, have ever swung a hammer next to a crew of Mexicnas? Or even have a clue as to why Mexican labor is so popular.
Many of the white guys I know concider wearing a suit to work and getting paid the most, for doing the least, a success.
What is the old saying. A person never got rich working for a living.
There is more going on with hiring Mexican labor, than they are cheap. They follow instructions, listen to orders, understand team work, take pride in a job well done and don't complain a lot. Just my experiences. Many may not be the quickest on the job, but more than make up for it in dependability.
Sure generalities are often false, but when I do the hiring, they often seem to have the traits I want on my team.

Illegal imigration is illegal period. There is no little bit pregnant & there's no little bit illegal. That being said, a law is only as good as the enforcement of said law. At this point in time our immigration laws are of little more value than toilet paper. They will remain of this value up until the time we figure out a way to control the boarders. The immigration bills before the legislature now mean nothing & are little more than lip service.

Being a farmer my perspective is a little biased as I work with & depend on immigrants on a daily basis. We have a fairly large farm of 5500 acres divided out between wine grapes, raisin grapes, alomonds, & pistachios. We carry a work force of 55 full time employees of which 95% are "Mexican". I use the term Mexican losely as many come from much furthar south, but Mexico is their means by which they enter. By our records all our employees are legal. By law we can go no furthar than looking at a green card & SS #. I would ask you to look into how many illegal aliens are actually paying into the system through false SS#'s without getting anything in return. I would also encourage you (if you really want to play with the race card) to actually look up the ratio of "white" on welfare versus other minorities.

Without turning this into a complete thesis I would argue that Ag could not survive without migrant workers. We've tried to work with job placement outfits, & welfare offices with no success. We (Americans) just don't want to put in the time or effort it takes for these jobs. It's not the pay. In fact we don't have one employee on the ranch that is only making minimum wage. At this point our lowest paid employee is making about $8.00/hr.

The problem with statistics, we all should remember, they can be manipulated to support anybody's position on a given topic.

you want to live in America, great. Go through the proper channels. People from other countries do it all the time. and guess what? if they dont, they get booted back to wherever they came from. so no, i dont believe the US should change their laws. those people have had plenty of time to get their stuff in order and apply legally.


in agriculture, farmer matt is definitely correct. the US cannot survive without them. coming from dryland farming in eastern WA, a lot of the surrounding guys rely on migrant labor.

If it weren't illegal immigrants it would be terrorists. Have we gone long enough without a terrorist attack on the country to concentrate on whether someone is legal to work here? I think so. Let's worry about that now. They won't attack again if they haven't done it by now. I think we've taught them their lesson in their homelands! :explosion




No? Still won't work? Bus rides aren't free...so how do we fund that? Maybe get rid of fawking welfare and we could afford more border agents and busses to send them back! Make everyone work for a change. My charity shouldn't be mandatory. :viking:

I am about as "white" as can be, and three generations back my great grandfather entered and lived in the US illegally from Lithuania. So, can I fault these people for coming to "our" country for a better life? no, as long as they put forth the effort that this country was built on. Remember, our country really isnt that old compared to others, and was built completely by immigrants. Do I get angry when people cant speak the national language, of course, but I also cant imagine living in a country where I couldnt speak the language.
The laws need to be reformed, good or bad, and enforced, good or bad... but the blame is not on the imigrants..

I agree with everything FarmerMatt says.. have you ever seen the construction workers in Texas on a 100 degree day? those guys are not taking handouts but are providing a valuable service.

and I cant remember the last hispanic homeless guy I have seen....
