anyone used a kit like this to put some basic strobes in the front and rear turn signals?

I had a set (same kit as the pic) in my front forward facing signals when i used to mark the end of the drag strip for my street racing buddies. it works ok, but the lights don't strobe at the same time or in any type of preset timing. you can adjust the speed with the dial but it's still pretty random. and they arent very bright. I ended up throwing them in the trash 2 weeks after I bought the kit. That particular kit is a piece of garbage. Whelan makes a good one, as do Signal-stat and federal signal.

As yan alluded to, if you get caught with red and blues on em you will go to jail, whether they are turned on at the time or not, for impersonation of an officer. Here in CA that's a felony ;) Also, they kind of make you look like a tool. Waste of money if you ask me, unless you have some important purpose for having them there.

why? are you on a jeep board but own a ricer?

I've tossed around the idea of putting strobes in my XJ... for when the alarm goes off or if it ever gets stolen.. nothing like a card riving down the road with strobes to get attention.

I could see amber lights for road side emergencies or extremely heavy fog, bad weather. but anything other than amber i dont see usefull.

Both are good ideas, especially using white or amber strobes during bad weather. Driven through a few snow storms that those would have come handy in! Strobes and "train horns" would be a great combo to put on in conjunction with a car alarm....doubt there would be many thieves stupid enough to try and drive off with that combo going off

I put two professional strobes (the ones that go in emergency vehicles) and a train horn with a 2 gallon air tank INSIDE a customers car once, triggered not by the alarm going off but by a vibration sensor on the steering wheel, just in case they found a way around the alarm itself. I tested it with welding goggles on and earplugs in and my ears were still ringing for about 20 minutes after, I feel sorry for anyone who tried to hotwire that car :D

lol.. thats another idea. I already have some really loud horns wired to the alarm besides its siren... and i have been thinking of putting a strobe inside and a high pitched piezo buzzer. Would you want to steal a vehicle with strokes and horns on the outside and strobes and a high pitched squeal on the inside?

Hahahaha......Hell, I'm not too sure if I want to be on the same parking lot if that were to go off:roflmao:

If you drive a reliable car, the first thing you think of is rice. If you drive a jeep, you're thinking "damn.... those would really come in handy the next time I break down in the middle lane of the beltway"

Alright I went and done it! Bought a set of LED strobes for $28 shipped. They are pretty good looking and are very visible! I plan to mount the remaining two in the front grille.

Lmfao I like how the OP never commented again and then WebDog goes and puts strobes on his XJ.

Btw those strobes look pretty chill. Not for me, but at least they don't look like rice!

I have them in the front and back of my jeep but its an old police jeep I even have a police PA and siren just dont have the lightbar on it anymore. I also have spot lights on both sides and they shure do come in handy

I have been looking at those for a while, and I used to have a amber strobe on my roof rack. when i got rid of the rack i took the strobe off, it is just nice to have when you are on the side of the road and it is dark. Or really bad weather.

I probably wont have people tailing me anymore, when they are off the look like a unmarked LEO lights.

This is the old setup.
