I sent a feeler out to Doug, with Napier Products, who markets his own version of XJ pocket flares. They are manufactured using a vacuum forming process, which I thought could also be used to produce airdams for the street MJ/XJ crowd.
Here is his response:
"The street bumper looks like an interesting idea. The technology we use is vacuum forming. It's easier to set up molds and run than injection molding but has more limitations on shapes and undercuts.
With this technology, the street bumper would have to be in three pieces.
Left cap, right cap & middle but that's the way the OEM air dam is set up anyhow. Advantage is that it could be out of fairly flexible plastic. Also, you wouldn't have to replace the entire thing if one corner got busted.
I'd have to get a hands on look to see if it's something we could do. If so, I'd have to have the original for probably a month or so to use a reference while creating an original mold.
