State of the Union

I'm actually longing for a civil war in this country as long as it goes down like this... The gun loving redneck hillbillies against the eco-green loving, peace nuts.

It will be a very short, very brutal war but we will be better off for it.

It could probably be accomplished with several good bitch slaps and pistol whippings without a shot fired.

x2, i'll help drive you losers to the airport...

These are probably some of the same people that have stated sometime in their life "Love it or Leave it" well maybe they should take their own advice and leave. There are regions in this world these folks can move to that have little or no government intervention on the populace.

Those folks that are part of the petition group please give my wishes to Alec Baldwin & Jeannie Garafalo who both stated eight years ago they would leave the U.S.A. if George W. Bush was re elected.

Apparently some are considering moving your way........must not realize you guys already have most of what laws and programs they despise already in use.........

We don't want them. We have enough separatists in Quebec.

You guys think you have problems. We had a referendum in Quebec back in 95; the motion to decide whether Quebec should secede from Canada was defeated by a margin of 49.42% "Yes" to 50.58% "No". To make matters worst, we just had a separatist win the premiership (governor) in Quebec this September.

If anything, give us a call whenever you find a new locale for your nutjobs; we can carpool our crazies.

And yet all the people live right along the southern border cause the rest is a frozen wasteland! If they secede would they elect a more conservative or more socialist government?

Calling Quebec a frozen wasteland would be like calling Texas a desert wasteland. There's lots of mining, forestry and hydro-electric projects going on in northern Quebec. Their dense forests cover an area equivalent in size of Norway and Sweden combined. It's a big chunk of usable land.

If they did split from Canada than I'm sure their government would look for new creative ways to seek federal funding from a federation they're no longer part-of. Who knows really. All I can really say is that our referendum makes these US petitions look rather silly. You can't compare 40,000 petitions from a state like Texas with a population of 25million to a province where 49.42% of its population voted to split.

I see this more as a shot across the bow of the Federal government, by citizens who are tired of the BS that Washington is pulling.

Gov Perry's office statement backs this up......

"Gov. Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it. But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government.

Now more than ever our country needs strong leadership from states like Texas, that are making tough decisions to live within their means, keep taxes low and provide opportunities to job creators so their citizens can provide for their families and prosper. We cannot allow Washington’s tax and spend, one-size-fits-all mindset to jeopardize our children’s future, undermine our personal liberties and drive our nation down a dangerous path to greater dependence of government."

I see this more as a shot across the bow of the Federal government, by citizens who are tired of the BS that Washington is pulling.

Definitely a sign of frustration across a broad spectrum of the country with twenty-seven states having some form of petition. Even if all the states achieve the 25K signatures it will not get much attention; that's not even a million voters.

Best idea ever.

Then you'll get all the great folks that closed off CA to move up there an shut you down fast. You think you got trouble now with them wanting to shut down most of utard, just wait till all the CA Tree Huggers move.

Watch what you wish for folks.:D But then again i would get a good laugh out of it.LOL

I won't sign a government petition. I don't need my name on any "lists"

Too late for me. My FBI file must be an inch thick between working on various campaigns, being a union president, writing the white house and congress members, back ground check for military security classifications, posting on NAXJA, etc

Pretty sure these petitions are meaningless things started by bored Americans with nothing better to do. Also fairly sure that anyone can sign any petition, so if you bother looking at the names on them, you'll see a lot of names showing up on various "states'" petitions, whether they live in that state or not. Rick Perry's statement doesn't back up the idea of Texas secession so much as the idea of maintaining a unified nation. Odd since I seem to recall him making headlines a couple years back for preaching secession. Funny how a presidential campaign can flip flop anyone's public opinions...

Mr President, it's time to stop campaigning and time to start leading this country down the road to fiscal responsibility.

http://www.heritage.org/research/re...crisis-only-presidential-leadership-is-needed

He's leading it down exactly the road he wants it to go.
Fiscal cliff? Bah! Blame the other party. Play Russian roulette with them over the nation's economy and debt and financial failures... that's an outstanding way to get things fixed. If they fold and step in line, he wins. If they don't and the economy tanks, he can simply blame them.
Stupid politicians... Should fire the lot of them and start over! Screen them for a "Give a $h!t attitude for America" and make sure they are actually qualified to hold a position of responsibilities and can make sound decisions. :patriot: 'merica
