ok so spring creek drew some interest..
i think the 21st is too close so the 29th it is....

Meet at the Starbucks next to the gas station at Downieville, exit 234 off of I-70.

if someone has run this trail before i think THEY should lead...if noone has..then the most equipped up front...i have no REAR tow points yet so im not the likely candidate...

this trail is a bit west and north(especially for me! yikes!)

so lets delay the met time an hour

10-1030am
post if your comin or suggestions...thanks guys

I'm thinking I can make that........IF I get the front grinding/squeaking in the hubs figured out. Otherwise, I'll be spending that day getting it ready for the shakedown.

Where is this trail? I do not want to drive to far north as I will be without sleep again if i go!

Hey, I was up there last weekend and that side of the mountain was about 3" with white stuff and some pretty good size drifts, but hey if we all want to go in a group, I PROBABLY could lead...
see you on the trail...

just checked my calander, i will be in vegas that weekend.... nogo for me...

If there is a lot of snow up there it could raise the trail up a notch. The 1st obstacle snowy and wet can be interesting...............Definitely need someone with a winch up front specially if you have rigs with open, so Crimson get your tow points up front on.

If Yella goes he can lead, he was just up there 8 months ago. (make sure he puts his doors on :D) I have a winch as well but if I go first I haven't been up there in awhile, althought it is not that hard unless it is wet and muddy.

I might be down in two weeks, wanted to run this last year. Question for those that have not been up there. When you get to the top you go down other trails. Saxon mountain is one of them and it is a nice trail to make for a nice bumpy relaxing decent to Georgetown, unless you are scary of a bunch of Switchbacks? :D .....there is also Cascade creek that goes down to Hwy 103 just south of Idaho springs. Check out the other trails listed off of spring creek. It could make for a longer day if that is desired.

Do you guys want to run spring creek and go back down or take one of the other trails back down the mountain?

That was the one thing that went bad the last time I went up to S.C. ......... I didn't take the right road off the mountain and ended up way lost somewhere east of Dumont. We drove around a crap-load of dirt roads until a local finally gave us the directions to head out to the frontage road that runs just below the Phoenix mine.

That sucked. I would need better info on where to find the correct marker for the road to get down the mountain.

Saxon Mountain is easy to do no offshoots. Just take a right when you get to the top of Spring Creek. The other way can get confusing if you go Spring Gulch.there is three offshoots and another offshoot going down Cascade.....................so ya, you could get lost easy! ;)

if anyone has a front seat for me in their rig, i'd love to ride along.

I've got room in my rig for you.

I'd like to take one of the nice relatively smoothe trails back down, the lack of obstacles makes it a bit faster I would think.

Puhleese....... You don't have a hair on yer ass if you don't run Spring Creek up and down that day........

:D
