spring creek 3-29

I have a line on a set of shocks but they are skyjacker...

Nothing wrong with that, my replacent brakeline is doing good and it didn't cost me anything either. 4WheelParts warrantied it out. I was only sarcasm bashing them. If I remember right SkyJacker shocks tend to run a bit stiff, but I'm not sure.

well im contemplating how this run will b....i have two different coils on the jeep right now..(same size diff. manufacturers) and the cage still isnt welded up...if i do nded up makin it....then ya ill roll up with ya

ya ive got the sleeves to put inside of it....and its set in...jsut gotta grind up where the welds will be...
im not so much worried about that as i am the coil situation....
dont wanna snap anther one 2hours from home lol

60/40 split,

60 still in, 40 out.

I have to choose my battle wisely here. I will have the young man who always goes wheeling with me and my 16 month old boy.

So if the trail is nasty with snow or it is bad weather I be out. (being single and the only one I was a lot more daring. Thinking of the Safety of my boy I tend to pass things, funny how your thoughts & priorities change?) :laugh3:

I am going to go up to Bill Moore or cascade creek Saturday after noon and see how much snow is up there, and anyone is welcome to join. The wife will be there or sleeping. Pretty much the same elevation.

Well the 10 day forecast in Idaho Springs is; snow today, Wed., Thurs., Fri., then sunny on Sat with a high of 38 degrees and then Sun. snow with a high of 40 degrees........................Spring Creek is higher elevation so you can logically assume more of whatever.

Looks like I am 40/60 split now!

(I think moisture in the hills is a good thing though, even if it screws up my plans. I hated the drought several years ago. Made everything look like a wasteland from a bad Mad Max flick.)

I will take a gander up there Sat to Spring Gulch (easy trail) and check out the snow levels at the top.

When you found a coil to replace the snapped one, did you only get one? If you got a pair and the mismatched springs bother you, just slap the other one in there too. And then you will have a trail spare coil spring.

I'm still interested in going but a little wishy-washy. I'm not very brave when people start talking about shelf roads with snow on them... :) I might have to wait for the report Saturday to see how the snow situation looks.

Out of curiosity... Since I've never been on Spring Creek before, just how rough/long are the shelf roads? My limited experience for shelf roads says that some are wider/lever/smoother than others, and a little snow on them may be no big deal.

Yeah, I'm a "maybe" now too due to the weather report.... and a definite "yes" about keeping the doors on if I do go..... :D

And I WILL NOT drive the Truggy on a shelf road with any snow/ice potential - it's dangerous enough on the loose dirt with as light as it is.

ya i only got one..imma order two new and keep this one i just got(was previously unused) as a "spare" in the jeep

Test your winch, under load, BEFORE you go out. This last time out, I was glad Jeremy stayed home: One less worry in a worrisome moment...or two.

Great, now there is a Storm watch for the Denver area and
Idaho springs Thursday.

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT...

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING
THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT.

SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN OVER NORTHEAST COLORADO LATE
WEDNESDAY NIGHT OR THURSDAY MORNING. SNOW WILL THEN CONTINUE
THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT AND MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
OF 6 INCHES OR MORE WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE BOULDER- DENVER
METRO AREA AND EASTWARD ACROSS ADAMS AND ARAPAHOE COUNTIES. IN THE
FOOTHILLS AND OVER THE PALMER DIVIDE...SNOWFALL AMOUNTS IN EXCESS
OF 12 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE.
GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS ACCOMPANYING
THE SNOW MAY ALSO CAUSE POOR VISIBILITIES DUE TO BLOWING SNOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR A
HAZARDOUS WINTER WEATHER EVENT IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.
SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS MAY OCCUR THAT COULD IMPACT
TRAVEL. STAY TUNED TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OR YOUR LOCAL
NEWS MEDIA FOR THE LATEST UPDATES AND POSSIBLE WARNING CONCERNING
THIS POTENTIAL WINTER STORM.

Although besides this storm watch on thursday it suppose to be sunny on Sat. but the forecast calls for Snow on Sunday and only a 40 % chance. However if this Spring Storm is coming through the metro area and hit the hills as well on Thursday with 12inches it would make for an interesting event.
I will see on Saturday, if anyone wants to be on standby Sat to make a run up Spring Gulch or Cascade Creek to see how the snow really is let me know. The more the merrier!

If it is bad I do not want to make a fun trail into a dangerous one. Not to mention the cold, last thing is to have my 16 month old boy get really
sick, know what I mean? ........I would be grounded from taking him for awhile. :jester:

My verdict is still out pending this storm and checking out the area Saturday.

Where is your guys' sense of adventure? If there is a good amount of snow then I say we just adjust fire and pick an easier trail that'll be made more challenging because of the snow. I really just want to really test out my rig, I haven't done anything challenging in it yet.

.......I still have a sense of adventure? ...........am not old! IS that what you are saying?!? :D

Define challenging in your mind?

Who the hell knows, Weather men are like politicians, never tell the truth.

If it is bad then ya, delay Spring Creek for another day and run something that would be fun with snow!

There is a lot in that area. All those back trails up to the top where it meets Spring Creek. There is also Devils Canyon off of 103. Although last time I went through there was a couple years ago and there was snow still in June..........but no shelf roads.

...haven't done anything challenging? Like we were talking about the other day - you're in a whole other league now. You're going to have to hit up Carnage BV if you want challenging. :D
