Sound deading cab?

that came out really good. never thought about sectioning the headliner. Is the cut in the middle noticeable at all? does it move or separate at all while driving or flexing it out?

Yes, it's noticeable. Probably more to me than anyone else though. The rear half hangs down about 1/4" lower in the middle than the front. I tried to buy some "H-Moulding" online so I could just paint it to match and slide the two halves together. The only place I found any that should fit, I called them and they no longer make it. I went to an upholstery shop and they didn't have any good ideas either. I don't notice it moving around at all though. The body's pretty rigid with the cage. I recently bought a stock overhead console. It's long enough to go past the seam in the headliner, so I'm thinking about installing it partly for the cool factor, partly to hold up the center of the rear half of the headliner.

check out the stuff they use to seam FRP in commercial bathrooms and such.

might do what you'll need, but will most likely only be available in white. Dye or paint to match.

Thanks for the link. I actually bought a piece of that, but the channel is not wide enough to get the headliner into. I found several websites that sell "H-Moulding", but couldn't find anything with the right thickness for the panels to slide into. The one place I found that had it listed didn't carry it anymore because they said there was no demand for it. I'll keep looking though.

I used FatMat in my XJ. Similar product to DynaMat, but less expensive. I picked it up on Ebay. I did the floor, roof, fenderwells and inside the doors. When I shut a door now it has a solid "thud" instead of sounding like someone banging a gong. Definitely not as quiet as some newer cars, but it did make a big difference in noise. My A/C works much better too due to the insulating properties of this stuff. That's important down here in the desert.

another vote for FATMAT. I have used schoche, dynamat and fatmat and they all perform similarly. I went with fatmat due to cost. Does a great job!

how much sq footage is needed to do an XJ? headliner, floors, maybe even inside the doors? Anyone have experience to save me from math-ing?
NEVERMIND.
Found the answer by reading up a couple posts.
100 feet is plenty.

I used the foam pad that goes under pergo floors. I put down two layers. It was free, and works. But the fat mat probably works better, and is more convenient
