So Cal desert rats

The Yokahamas are a cool tread... I believe they're a 2 ply side wall... they'll tell you they are 2 "thicker" plys :dunno:

The MTRs... the first gen. were supposedly a kevlar tire... I HATED !! my set...
I know many liked them, but I had plugs in all of them in about 6 mons.
You've been through the Virgin River Gorge... driven past the truck scale/inspection station just south of St. George... JUST past the on ramp from there I lost the entire tread & most of the carcass while hauling ass on the freeway. The carcass passed the XJ took out the rearview mirror (which is still messed up) set the XJ sideways at like 75... I aimed for the median... all that was left was about 4" of inner & outer side wall... :scared: Think if it had been 8 mins. earlier in the gorge...
I've ran & been part of testing for other G.Y. tires & was happy with others, but not the MTRs... maybe the new tread is all that I don't know...

The Treadwrights... I've heard nothing but good to great reviews on them, they weren't spared any abuse cause they are retreads...
How would you kill them... you run the same tires on both your rigs that T.W. uses as a foundation for MANY of their tires.

I know of a local guy who has stepped up to guinea pig them for us... they're en-route.

I run the Cooper SSTs... semi aggressive tread... 3 ply sidewall...

I've never ran the Dunlops... supposedly they're a harder compound... good longevity... not as good traction...

Thanks curt. But with the treadwrights i havent found 35 in a 15 rim on there site for awhile. I also don't have my jeep sitting around with the tires aired up.Right now they're sitting with 10# in them and i have driven to the store a couple of time.I don't think with the temps we have here they would last me that long

Same carcass... the same damage you'd do to the T.W.s you ARE doing to the tire you're running now...
I can see the size issue... unless you stay with 33s.
E-mail them about 35s...

Man what a GREAT day. Lots to see and do.Thank you curt for the Coyote canyon, that place was cool, we went all the way over to the valley where the one road dead ended. It was getting dark so we headed out.I think the ALT is gone in cyndee's jeep.I am getting a lot of noise out of it now.. More work needed on hers.

Glad you had a good time Scott... Sorry we missed it.

I should have the motor mounts by Tuesday, so we'll be good to go next time

It's NOTHING like it use to be... start in Borrego Spr. & top out in Anza... the trail in canyon would run through 3 separate LONG oasises you would meander in & out of the creek and in several spots you were running up the creek IN a tunnel of vegetation... stop at the stone cabin... climb out on a dugway... it made for a really cool trip ... still nice though...

So I got my treadwrights in last night.....first impressions.....the tread looks pretty good kinda look like the the new km2's but slightly less agressive. The only downside was I ended up with the bridgestone dueler A/T side walls (I was hoping for BFG) however after some reading online it sounds like they will be ok. Now I just need to get them mounted and tested. Hey for $526 shipped I figured it was worth a try!

Great price. Looks like a good pattern.

Kind of a bummer.

and is no longer available.

Curt, it was cool finding river beds with water running thru them and crossing them.when we got to the top of the mountain and looked across that big valley, it was cool. The sun was going down so we had all kinds of colors going on.We was at a 1/4 tank of gas at the otherside of the valley.Man what a great time.I was thankful most of it was down hill.LOL

Scott, where did you go? That sounds like an awesome trip!

Paul, ya it sucks cause it is getting harder to find tires in the 15" wheel size! I would have tried to squeeze 32" if they made them in the 15". Looks like next go around I'm gonna need to move to a 16"
