So Cal desert rats

Paul i started it up again and she got one hell of a BANG.. So i don't have the time or the cash to go thru the motor..Plus i can buy a 94 to a 96 for less..LOL..

Correct but I over gaped them for more hp :)

you shouldn't over gap them, it makes the spark hotter which might be why they opened up so far on you, it was burning the edges of the electrode off. You won't see the benefit of a hotter spark in your engine. gap them at .035 where they are supposed to be.

So is that "live wire" kit that 4wd.com sells just bull shit? They claim you can over gap and get gains... The wires are nice and thick and it came with a cap n rotor... I'm just doing what the kit claims it can do, use a bigger gap for a gain...?

most of spark plug related claims are bullshit man. that stuff jsut doesn't help all that much on a stock motor. start doing some work to your engine and you might see some gains.

did they reccomend using anything other than a standard plug? like platinums? you can't run that hot of a spark with a standard plug the metal isn't hard enough to take it. That's why newer cars take platinum plugs, so they can take the heat of the hotter spark without burning out in 10k miles. I didn't know you had a high powered coil in that XXXXer when I told you to get those plugs - the parts guy is only as good as the info the customer gives him :D you need to run platinum or iridium plugs with that setup i'd bet - and it should have told you this info in the instructions that came with the coil.

scott its just going to burn the plugs back out to 60 thousandths. put platinums in it orr put a stock coil back in it. keep your fancy pants wires and cap n rotor though.

It's been so long since I got the kit idk to be honest. I did the research on here before I got it and everyone seemed to be running the truck plugs over gaped... Idk if it would be worth the extra $ for a platinum plug unless I'm missing something? I don't recall seeing that I "had" to have a plat/irid plug... Just gonna leave these plugs in until I find better info on this. But you sound right mike and usually are, so I wouldn't be supprized, Scott on the other hand..... Well it's Scott need I say more? ;)

i know man, when he talks i just hear "ya know, back in MY day we couldn't afford cars... so we rubbed two sticks on a brick wall and called it a good time! you kids don't know blah blah blah blah"...:D

Maybe I'm dumb and gaped the old plugs at 50? And they blew out to 60 over 2+ years? I honestly couldn't tell you what I gaped the old plugs at, I'm thinking I gaped them the max gap I could run with the kit... But I could be wrong considering it was years ago when I worked at good year.

I don't see anything about a HO coil.

Gap the damned plugs and drive it.:D
