I really liked this butcher block look, and , I am guessing, it sat outside for a while. So the top cracked in a few places, which added to the distressed look. But it also raised some of the grains in some of the blocks. I needed to be able to write on this top. So I wet sanded the tops first coat of lacquer and proceeded to add 11 more. I wet sanded again after the last coat and began the polishing. 10 coats of wax, power buffed after each coat, was added until I was happy. The 12 coats of lacquer smoothed out the top to a glass like finish. Added some pulls to tie it into the decor of the house, and done.
