Started tearing the motor down yesterday. I'm close to finalizing the specifics. I'm hoping that when the mivi-van gets out of the tranny shop this week I can start ordering parts.

This is what I have decided on:

Mopar performance head gasket and springs
258 crank and rods
9.6:1 compression ratio.
sealed power graffite coated pistons
.030 overbore

Should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 250HP and 300 ft/lb torque

I'm also getting used to the idea that I will have to run premium. Seems like I could spend more building a "lowbuck" stroker than the one I'm building.

Still trying to decide on the cam. Hopefully I will have that ironed out later this week.

I decided to stick with the stock cam in mine...The wiped out cam stories scared me off, and I can always go with a high ratio rocker later...

I run 87 in mine, and could use bigger injectors when I get in its a$$...

I've got $600 in mine...Parts only tho, I machine engines for a living...

Got a set of injectors off of EBay for 65 bucks +10 for shipping. Found a crank and rods for 40 bucks. Since I'm going to be using my stock 242 rods, I will be selling the 258 rods to a buddy for 40 bucks so the crank becomes FREE.:yelclap: I've decided on a lunati cam and lifters, KB944, and a centerforce 2 clutch.

I love getting parts in the mail. Got the injectors, ordered the Lunati cam, I've got the crank and rods, those aren't staying in my possesion for very long. Next week I will be ordering the pistons and some other misc. parts. Gotta work a few head and intake details out before I can order too much though.

Oh yeah and as a side project I painted my CO2 tank today Key Lime Green and I've got a sticker coming to give it a professional look too it.:woohoo:

Got the cam and lifters today, hopefully the pistons and header will be here next week. I also found a 94 4.0 out of a cherokee for 150 bucks so I can upgrade my head and intake fairly cheaply.

I still need to order the hesco adaptor, all the seals and gaskets, and a few misc. parts that were going bad but not bad enough to replace. (starter, waterpump, a few sensors)

Still trying to decide what clutch is going to be behind the motor. I can't really afford the CF dual friction clutch so I'm looking at the LUK gold for about a 100 less.

Ah i hate you! Which cam did you get from them? I wanted to get one soo badly but i ran out of money.

It was the VooDoo line and it's 256/112 grind number VD-AMC6-256. According to their tech it should give me lots of low end torque. I spent almost 800 bucks on pistons, moly rings, and header yesterday. I'm afraid my wife is going to cut me off it I don't stop ordering parts.

cut you of from what? parts or luvin? I gave up the luvin years ago with the wifey in exchange for Jeep parts.....but didn't give it up from my girlfriend! :D:D

just kidding, I am not a no-good cheating bastard..I am just a no good bastard. There is a difference ;)

Both Tyler Both... Actually she is being pretty understanding so. She did make the mistake of asking me about the budget I gave her when it all started. I mumbled a number under my breath and changed the subject. At least I tried too.

And what show of unity do you mean rev.

Motor is out!!!! I'm trying to work a deal for a 185k mile 94 4.0 so I can have the better head and intake. I'm waiting on the pistons, exhaust header. I did pick up a used K&N intake and filter for 100 bucks the other day. This build isn't going fast enough.

Any updates? Now is the not-so-fun part, gotta tear it all apart.

Nothing really new. Got the pistons, rings, and exhaust. I'm a little mad at myself right now over the exhaust. I misread the ebay listing or confused it with another and ended up with a stock 94 exhaust manifold. I'm going to go ahead and run it at least for a while. I'm not running a cat so I'm hoping that will help compensate. I know I know I'm going to get burned at the cross for not running a cat but unless you wanna pony up for one....

It looks like the deal with for 94 motor is falling through so I'm needing if nothing else everything (Head, intake, fuel lines, fuel rail, throttle body, etc) on a 91-95 4.0L out of a cherokee. Otherwise if I can't find this stuff by the time I get ready to start building I will be using my 89 stuff.

Here's the parts list I have so far.

KB944+.030
Lunati cam
Lunati lifters
Sealed Power Moly Rings
Stock 91-95 header
24# Mustang Injectors
258 Crank

I'm hopefully going to have my engine torn down this sunday. I'd like to at least get the block and crank to the machine shop. I'm going to have the machine shop actually build the motor seeing as I don't want to spend a ton of cash and have the motor blow up on me cause I forgot something or didn't use enough assembly lube. The machine shop is sourcing the rebuild kit and what I don't have so I have less to worry about. They are also getting me the pushrods and valve springs. I need a 100# spring for the cam and lifters and if they get that stuff it's one less thing I can screw up.

Check out northern auto parts, (they have an ebay store) that is were i bout part of a rebuild kit IE: all bearings gaskets lifters and cam for mine in a package, pretty cheap really.

So I hit a little of a snag and then it worked out okay. I was buying a motor from a guy for 125 bucks. It took about 5 days till I was able to get a truck and a day off to go get the motor. The day I was supposta pick it up I call the guy and no answer. I leave a message wait an hour or so and call him again. By this point I am at my buddies ready to leave but waiting on him to call and give me directions. Finally after waiting 3 hours I moved on with my evening. The next day I call him and no answer and it seemed like he ignored my call. So last night I called him from my friends phone and low and behold he answers. Come to find out someone offered him more than what I was going to pay for the engine. So he sold it for more money... I'm good with that but at least have a big enough pair to tell me so I don't waste my time.

The upside I called the guy that bought the motor and worked a deal with him to get the parts I need for less money. So I will be picking up a 92 motor tomorrow. Now I won't be having to use my 89 head and intake.

Hey Chris, I have a long block out of a 97 that you can have if you need it. Still has head and VC on it, but stripped of about everyting else. Oil pan is still on it but I have a buddy that wants it. I pulled the motor b/c I was told it had overheated. It ran like crap before I pulled it and replaced it with one that I thought was better ;) So, anyhow, it is sitting at the farm if ya want it.

I think I'm covered on the engine. Just so happens that the guy that bought the motor is Mike from 4x4Land. So I called him and found out he has a 92 4.0L without the accessorys that he's going to sell me that for less than what I was going to pay. I'm going to pick it up at the swap meet in Olathe tomorrow.

Since you wont see these when the engines built, I'll give you guys a little teaser.
