Im looking underneath of Avon and think.. Man..there aint much protection there.
What do you guys have? custom job or Rusty's Offroad skids?
I was thinking of getting the xfer case skid and the oil pan one but just curious as to what else is out there with out me having to look for it.

T&T sounds expensive.. let me go investigate!

Tnt nuff said

Thomken tank skid, WARN T-case skid and RuffStuff covers.

The WARN t-case skid is junk unless you modify it and make it bolt in without the self tappers. Mine is dented/bent but it will hold up the weight of the Jeep. The Thomken is a great skid, I've landed hard it more than once.

can one of you all take a pic of your tnt skid.. i just want to see what it looks like on a "real life" jeep!
thanks

The TNT skid is tough, but mine is bent up enough that it kissed the pan on the tranny. Sadly, I haven't taken it off to straighten it yet. It does give me more center ground clearance this way...

I'm running all OEM skids on mine and never had a problem. Have a spare fuel tank skid inthe garage for an 84-96.

Screw tnt they're idiots...... I ran a factory Tcase skid for years and it did great..... All I have on sams is a 1.5" tube welded to the crossmember and it does the job.... Tcase and gas tank, the rest gets in the way and costs way too much

Don't overthink it you'll end up spending way too much

Come to remember . Avon has a factory skid and gas tank skid from factory. (i say factory but it was on it when i got it so i assume it was factory)

Wow. I just exchanged emails with TNT. Their crossmember with the long arm mounts is $600 + shipping. That's $300 more than the same mount without the long arm mounts.

I'd love to run their skid as it's the only belly up I can find for the XJ, but $600 is simply too costly for me right now.

Good luck with your hunt. Photos or it didn't happen.

10 years ago, I bought a t-case skid from Brian Harmon at Cherokee Nation. It's just sheet steel that's bent in 4 places to follow the contour of the factory crossmember. Fairly simple to make, and it's held up well for me, I've had my 94 more or less balanced on it a couple of times.

I've also got a factory gas tank skid. No other skids.

Thats how the WARN is made and its tough/simple easy to remove for srvice work. I re-inforced mine and did away with the self tappers at the frame and "welded in" a nut strip for grade 8 hardware.

I have pivoted on it once or twice and rode it hard on "welder" at Mt City

Rock rails and that is it. :rof: Not too worried about the 203 or the 205 under mine.
