Sierra Chapter Meat-N'-Greet

I agree with Eric. I also think more and more people are gaining experiance and looking for more difficult trails, they may just be waiting for a guide to walk them through a hard run for the first time.

I had a great time at SierraFest and think Deer Valley was a great location. I also went to Swamp this summer and had a great time there, Bald Mtn would be fun to run too. Whatever we plan to do I am up for helping out and I would also like to host a run as well, just not sure where yet.
I'll do Deer Valley again regardless if its the official SierraFest run or not.

If SierraFest is at Swamp I will try and make it since I have been wanting to go there but have never been. The problem is it is a long way from Reno so I don't know if any of the other Reno guys would be able to come too.

I also agree with Bryan C about the Fordyce/Rubicon/Barrett run. I think it is too much trail for just one week and what most rigs would allow. That being said, almost all the rigs at this years SierraFest in DV were built to handle the Rubicon and do well. Most were on 35's, and I think there were maybe only 1 or 2 rigs on 31's or less. That was the only disappointment with SierraFest I had - that there weren't more stocker / lesser-built rigs on the easy trails. We are giving people who are new a great opportunity to come and wheel without destroying their rigs, yet very few came. So if the majority of rigs are built to handle the Rubicon, why not do SierraFest on the "Con again? We most certainly would still do another DV trip regardless. Just a thought.

i have a large shop, over an acre of private paved parking, & volunteered to have one here but all i heard were chirping crickets.
looks like no NAXJA love for knucklehead...:gee:

I'd be down to come over but not during the week. Friday or Saturday night's are good. You have a great setup at your place for just this sort of thing Tim.

Here is how I see it. If the chapter is going to have a national type event that is a major fundraiser each year, we need to keep it accessible to as many people as possible. Deer Valley was chosen by the BOD for this very reason.

I do agree that many of the people in this chapter have been building their rigs up over the last few years and may be ready for the Rubicon. It may be time to have another chapter run on the Rubicon. An event like this will have strict requirements for the people who come along. Minimum rig requirements would be 33's, and one full locker. Spare axle shafts, steering links, and the ability to install them is a must.

X2, I am with ya on this one Bryan. The more people we can have show up to a fundraiser event the better. As we all know, the money we raise go's to a very good cause.

From a fundraising stand-point you are correct. While I was impressed with the money generated at last years SierraFest, I never was aware that fundraising was a main purpose of the event. :)
