Shop in norcal to bore tb?

It's a pretty simple operation - find out what butterfly you need (that's the hard part!) find a decent machine shop, and disassemble the throttle body and take it to them.

A boring operation is standard mill work, and can be handled by any competent machine shop - it need not be an automotive shop. Probably cost you about an hour's labour - maybe an hour and a half.

If it's an HO throttle body, you have a lot of options to get either a prebored unit or to send yours in - RENIX is a little harder.

I don't know any shops in the Sac'to area, or I'd point you to one. CRASH is up there - why not give him a PM and see what he has to say?

Im fairly new to the placer county region and was just searchen for a reputable machin shop i'll try crash thanx. I got the renix system would it work if I bore it to 60mm and got a butterfly from a HO system ?

60mm is going to be very tight.

For the cost/hassle you may want to just pick up one from an existing vendor...

Check out Art Sound on ebay, he sells 59.5mm overbored renix TB's for a fair price.

To do that he fills up one side with JBweld (or something that looks like it to me) prior to boring. On the inside of mine I couldn't see if JBweld was actually exposed but the housing would be paper thin there if it weren't for the fill.

If your looking for the best, Hesco sells a full replacement Renix 62mm billet TB. Very spendy item though.

Stay away from XJ-Armor if you come across it. I ordered one from them and it took well over 30 days for it to arrive. I could not contact him at all during this period and he billed my credit card on the first day.

A kind person from this forum bought it from me. When he went to install it the holes for the TPS were stripped and he had to buy larger bolts and tap to get it together.

Good luck!

Since yours is a Renix, I wouldn't bore it out to 60mm. I know Artsounds tried 60mm and 62mm bores on his prototypes. He had a lot of problems. I remember him saying that because of voids in the castings, he'd scrap about 1 in 5 of the Renix TBs.

Thanx for fair warning Ive seen them before and was turned away by there blatant lie and attempt to claim a hp gain of 15 with 7.5mm of extra bore.
What is that an extra 70 some odd cc's of capacity. Smells like $hit, from a bulls butt mayby.

Most mfg's greatly exaggerate their HP claims. I take them all with a grain of salt.

I doubled checked Hesco's website BTW and their expensive one is not 62mm nor does it look like a Billet Aluminum deal to me. Guess I got confused or was day dreaming.

Perhaps Hesco bores to 60mm and ones that fail get discarded.

$595 for the Hesco vs Art Sounds on ebay for way less than half hardly seems worth it for an extra .5mm
