Shaving 8.25?

how about a shaved 9"? ive checked and couldnt find anything... any pics?

My buddy shaved mine while we were putting my 8.25 in. I had a Ruff Stuff cover and he held it up, and then made the cuts. After it was all cut he ground the bottom lip smooth with the bottom of the cover. Riddler should be no different.

hmmm i was thinking that it would probably be better to do it with the cover off and just mask off the differential from sparks and debris, but if i had the cover on, i could shave closer to the cover:dunno: i might trace the perimeter of the cover onto the housing too... we'll see. that lip pisses me off so i'm going to get rid of it one way or another.

you really couldn't find pics of a shaved 9"?

other than a 14b, I think thats the most shaved rear axle I have ever seen pics/threads on.
for example.

back on topic, I shaved my 8.25, but just the lip at the bottom of the dif. If I was going to really get into making some more room, I would think having the stock cover on would be helpful. Not just to keep crap out, but also to let you know what to expect when your Riddler cover comes in.
I guess it would depend how much material gets taken off tho.

i have the riddler, but it's at home and i'm at school. i guess i was looking for a perimeter size compariso between the 2 covers. we shall see. thanks though!

So most people just grind up to the diff cover? Im swapping in a geared 8.25 here soon and Ill be doing some work to it before I put it in some might as well grind a bit off the bottom ehh?

This is what it will look like when done.
