shackel mount relocation

so, i'm thinking about moving my shackel mount point down a bit to provide a little bit more lift and to allow the shackel to have more travel w/o hitting the body (or what's left of it). i think i'm going to pinch a piece of tube in where the shackel sits now and put some plate on the outboard section, then putting a plate flat under the box that the current mount forms, and building new tabs to mount the shackel. of course i'll probably go overboard w/ gusseting and all b/c i always do. has anyone tried anything like this? any lessons learned? pics would be great. my friend and i have plenty of fabrication experiance and ability, just want to see if anyone already has it ALL figured out yet.

That's a great write up, but it's more complicated than what others have done. Add some bracing to the existing shackle box, plate across the bottom, and add a couple of tabs for the shackle to mount to.........been done plenty of times.

There's a couple more for you in here,

Mine's simply a plate, bolted to the frame rails, and welded to the shackle box and rear crossmember..(and yes... I cleaned the plate before welding!)

There is a reason I left the overhang on the plate, it will get tied into the body, bumper, and a cage eventually. Also note the bolts were removed to install my hitch in this picture.

The ride is great, and I'm running full F150 springs, with an extra leaf. Flex is good too, and limited by shocks and bump stops...
