Sensor up the back of the motor

Does anybody know what the sensor up the back of a OBD2 I6 is. It looks like it is a 2nd temperature sensor. It is in the head.

Can't believe nobody knew the answer to this. It is for the temp gauge.

OBD2 shouldn't have that sensor. Except maybe the 96 model. When they moved to the OBD2 (again 96 being the exception) the thermostat housing mounted temp sensor supplied info to the computer for fueling and the dash gauge.
