School me on fender trimming

The XJ I have was trimmed by the previous owner. I don't really understand if it was done correctly or not in the rear.

I wheeled for the first time today with the 35's and the rear needs some trimming. Anyone in the Charlotte area interested in schooling me on how to do this? I'd pay for lunch/dinner and/or beer.

Find a Hot Momma to do it for ya.

LOL! @ xjstryker

Loki you basically cut it and fold it in. What you got going on this Saturday? Bring it down and bring a friend or two and we could knock it out easy.

You are pretty limited on how much you can trim in the rear. There are a lot of write ups but just cut and fold and don't go past the welds.

See.....I can't figure out if the guy before me already did that or not.

If you honestly have time next Saturday, I would be interested in the help.

If it's the red one in the build thread link in your sig then it looks like it was just trimmed back to the spot welds. You could probably do the cut and fold and get about another 1/2-1" in the wheel wells. Best thing to do is snap a pic of the wheel well from the outside showing the body lines and then one showing the inside of the wheel well and we'd be able to tell you real quick.

Yeap. I'm always serious about helping fellow jeepers. I just hate I live in BFE! But I do like where I live!

This is a good sugestion. Snap some detailed shots. You can also see how I hacked mine! :)

Hope these help.

Wife approved the purchase of the newer Bushwacker flares. Once I have those I will need some guidance on where exactly to trim.

Ouch! That is bad. They cut it and did not fold it. That is bad IMHO. You need to weld those two pieces back together. The bushwakers will get wasted on your first trip out.

For what its worth..this is what I did to mine.

Edit:

I think thats all I have picture wise..I'll have to dig around and see if I can find some more if need be.

I'm going to redo part of the rear ones because at the time I wasn't planning on 4 linking the rear. So I'll do something similar to the race cars with "tubs" in the back..

When most of us do the cut and fold it's usually cut little slits in multiple places from the inside of the wheel well going towards the body all around it. Then when it gets folded over it gets folded to that body line that the previous person decided to cut to, so that leaves you with not being able to trim anything else off unless you want to re-weld the wheel well to the body (which looks like it needs to be done in some places). It looks like you could also benefit from doing the rear 1/4 cut and fold so the tires will stop hitting the back lower portion of the wheel well.
